Level with custom tileset

1 Attachment(s)
I've been working on a semi-pixeled tileset lately, and quite a bit of it is finished so I'll post what I have now in a level.

Things I still need to work on:
  • Plank walls instead of the poles there are now
  • A good roof
  • Someway to mess with the house's perspective so it fits better with the cliff
  • Possibly some recolorings
  • Windows

So yeah, give me some constructive criticism on what to improve. I used the GK tileset type by the way.

The orange/brown are supposed to be wooden poles, the purple are cliffs with a funkeh colour.

The shades of orange and purple remind me of art done by people while on acids trips.

What is the purple and blue tiles supposed to be?
Of what you have it looks good so far.

::walks back and hits gozelda with it::
That decribes what im thinking, these are just 2 types of things, re coloured and rotated, there really isnt anything here.

I dont wanna be mean but, that is possibly the worst tileset I've ever seen, worse than Era's tileset fer godsakes...and I hate Era's tileset somethin awful.

It's creative. He's used his creativity. There is a stark difference between that and Era. Like Era, you get sidewalks in the realworld. It takes a glance out of the window to get the inspiration needed for such tileset.
Where do you get the inspiration for purple cliffs, squire?

Ah, reminds me of the old nintendo/gameboy days. I, for one, like it.

its definately interesting :) im not sure what I think

Only thing I like is the water and the cliff. I hate the planks, they look horrible.

Saying Era's tileset is awful is simply retarded.

You can say you don't like the style, but as a graphic, it's great. Nobody argues that.

Well, I'm guessing the white dots on the edges of the planks are supposed to be nails, but they stand out way too much. It looks like you missed a spot, and just left white dots there.

The water looks better without the cyan marks as well, although there is sort of a grid-ness to it when you look at it, try getting the edges to blend together without looking as obvious?

The cliff, I like.

You said you were going to work on the roof, and that's a good idea, since right now, it's hard to tell the difference between the poles and the roof.

That's pretty much what I can see right now.

This is the kind of post I was looking for.

Squire...?
Some old guy came up to me in the dentist and said "Your shoelaces are untied, squire", which they were. :P

The word just felt appropriate.

Newsflash, pixelated doesn't mean low detail.
Anyhow I honestly don't like the tileset sorry, try to make outlines of objects first than add in shading and find correct pallets. Might be a good start for you.

Once you did that slowly detail your objects.

It wasn't a newsflash to me. Perhaps you hadn't read the post fully, because then you would've known I haven't finished it. Anyway, could you add some more detail to your suggestion? I'm sure it's quite a good one, but it could be slightly more detailed. Thanks in advance.
