P2P/Forum Earnings

Ok, i've totaled up how much graal has made with the people currently signed up to the forums

So..basically We have 4,414 members signed up on the forums and have atleast a p2p and 6months gold, so total that up and graal has made "$132,420.

That's just a regular p2p with 6months gold, i've my self have bought 3 subscriptions to gold...and i know more people have bought alot..so there you go!. ;)

jacob_bald6225 09-20-2005 01:23 AM

Im pretty sure prices have gone up over time... my first p2p was like 25 bucks I think... but I am not sure.

Those are members that have accumulated over several years, meaning they might not have renewed their gold subscriptions yet will still show up on the members list.

So...that would be an all-time profit calculation the way you did it, rather than an annual proffit calculation.

You didn't read what i put, i said it's the total ammount of money they have gotten with just p2ps+gold bought, that's $30 right there. so multiply 30 x 4414.

Sonniku4 09-20-2005 02:54 AM

It'd be nicer if the more members kept renewing, the less everyone would have to pay. Like if 1000 members renewed a day, the price would fall down by 2 or so dollars. Technically it's the same money recieved, if the calculations make the money transfer the same as the goal of cash hoardings a month, depending on player purchase. Umm... Tell me if I make sense.

If 1000 members renewed a day, unixmad would have a heart attack after seeing all the 0s in his bank account.

But seriously, if Graal were that popular:
1) It would probably get bought by Microsoft.
2) Or Graal could stick one ad somewhere, and make all its money off of that, and Graal might be free!

If Graal was getting that many hits & subscriptions, price would actually go up.

Supply & Demand, young blood!

Hey mang you calculated p2ps and gold, but you forgot vips, servers, and users not registered to the forum. Also forgot employees being paid, all the maintenance stuff, and the past 5 years of p2p?

Too many factors for any lone regular graalian to calculate their profits or losses.

Unaccounted for inflation, staff accounts, changing exchange rates, change in prices. Not to mention this is what they've recieved, not made.

Take this value and divide it by how long the forums have been here (4 years?) and it's not that much considering the amount of users.

It has to be for sale to be able to be bought.

Accounts don't have limited supply.

Sonniku4 09-21-2005 02:07 AM

lol he got caught.

It doesn't have to.

It still follows the same general principles - When there is a high demand for something, such as p2p accounts, they can raise the prices and still make a profit.

If there was only a few people ever upgrading, upping the price would slow whatever incoming upgrades they have to a stand still.

Understand yet?

But, demand goes down when prices go up. So if there is no shortage of supply, it is not always in a company's best interest to raise prices, even when demand is up.

No it doesn't. As far as account goes, demand doesn't go down as long as the price isn't pushed over the limit.

With intangible items, demand is the contributing factor to the price. Not supply. "Tollerability" plays a slightly higher role than ussual.

I was thinking more along the lines that the price did get pushed over the limit.

I'm just saying that if they raised the upgrade price by, say $10, I'll be the the "Hellos and Goodbyes" forum. :P

You're clearly missing the point.

By all means, I'm not saying Graal is in the described position.

I wasn't trying to generalize. Sorry.

i dont think graalonline is generating a profit. i think of it as a hobby of the admins and im just glad they are doing it for us.

Projectshifter 09-21-2005 06:09 PM

You can say that's the gross income they've had, but it's not the profit. Take into account that I think there are at least 5 dedicated servers, but I'm quite sure it's more. 5 dedicated servers, probably at least $200 a piece per month, or they simply bought them and pay $50 - $150 for the networking, plus the offices, plus the few paid employees, the bandwidth, the few other things that cost money. It's not like it's purely profit. Stefan and unixmad have to live. So even if they have made $150k in the last 5 years, and even if Stefan and Unix split that down the middle, that's $75k apiece for 5 years, that's a whopping $15g's a year, wow, what an amazing profit they're making... Please think things through =/

That's what I was getting at originally, but strayed and then was too lazy to backtrack.

Thanks Dave, kisses. ;)

100dollars a year is not a lot of money, chap. They make about 8k a year from server rentals, that's it.
