The way image folders were meant to be.

It's good that graal is finally seperating images by servers... But it wasn't gone about the right way... In order for your images to get a subfolder you still have to use a prefix with your servername. (zone_, G2k1_, Classic_, etc) and this defeats the main purpose of seperating images by server...

The problem was that servers weren't using those prefixes in their filenames! Instead of placing images in subfolders based on prefixes in the filenames, can you please place them in subfolders based on which server you downloaded them from?

I think (not 100% sure) that Stefan was against this since some servers use the same images, so you wouldn't want 2k1_bush.png, npulse_bush.png, etc. Also, for those who haven't noticed, v4 is putting images in the "images" folder now too :)

You wouldn't have 2k1_bush.png, npulse_bush.png...

You would have 2k1/bush.png and npulse/bush.png...

What if 2k1 and npulse are both using bush.png but then UN comes along and makes a completely different image and names it bush.png? :\

This system we have now relies on people actually putting the prefixes in the file name... Most people don't, that was the point of sepreating the image folder into Server Subfolders.

Does this apply to ganis too?

I think ganis still just get piled into the gani folder... They should be seperated by server too though...

It's good to keep that habit anyway... Some people just don't bother... That's why I think the image saving system isn't very good.

The reason being that it's easy to forget and harder to read.

Would be nice if there was a button that cleared the server downloaded files & cache. To save space or something.

Graal is only downloading files if needed, and it is doing the check by filename. Servers are sharing tons of files, making copies of them for each server wouldn't mean just more hard drive space used, it would also mean much more network traffic.
Using some prefix in the filename shouldn't be a big problem. The only problem with sharing files between servers is that some server could replace the good files with bad versions of the file. In v4 there is a way now that playerworlds can prepare packages of files needed for the server and once downloaded the client prevents downloading them from other servers (this feature is currently not enforced yet but will be soon),
