A mass button?

I dont think this is mentioned but cud there be a button just to mass. Clicking over all the player gets kinda annoying and slow.

nullify 08-25-2005 07:28 PM

Massing can be quite annoying. On the other hand it MIGHT be handy.

mystic2k 08-25-2005 07:35 PM

people mass eitherway-_-. And if it gets annoying, u can always turn it off. Its just easier to mass this way.

haunter 08-25-2005 08:13 PM

It would help for situations where you select everybody, click message, then new people sign on before you actually send the message...

If there was "Mass message" button, perhaps it could send to everyone that's on at the exact moment the "Send" button is pressed?

mystic2k 08-25-2005 08:18 PM

yea kind of like that. It would just send to everybody whos on the second sends pressed, that was kind of what i was picturing too

xAndrewx 08-25-2005 08:19 PM

One massmessage every 30 seconds?!

excaliber7388 08-25-2005 08:21 PM

I like the idea :D

i dont get the 30 seconds thing. If u dont like peoples masses, then ignore them:/

Being able to post without limits is what sets us appart from the animals!

::mass:: hey

::another mass:: whats

::another mass:: up

You could put him on ignore without a 30 seconds rule.

you can put those guys on ignore if you dont liek to hear them. Besides the 30 second thing would get annoying and theres other way to not hear idiots mass.

Spiker 08-26-2005 11:41 PM

or maybe an idea could be, at the bottom were it has .close. .send.

erm.. that's the slow way to do it.
here, try this way. six simple steps to send a mass message:
1) click on a name. any one will do
2) push home
3) push and hold shift
4) push end
5) release the shift key
6) push enter

Nevertheless if someone logs on while your in the middle of writing your mass message, they miss out.

Zero Hour 08-29-2005 06:52 AM

I cannot think of a situation which requires the average player to create a mass message. I can only see it as a device for staff.

Why continue to use a old fashoned system, when you can just make improvments to do more things in less time. :/

GK - massing they're selling or buying something
classic servers - advertise a pk fest (tcpk, ac, etc) or ask for a spar
zone - not really sure about this one.....
rift - no need whatsoever.

how about this:
a serveroption to replace the playerlist with a script, like in v3, so staff can customize it. As it is, I'm going to have to make my own custom playerlist for my server anyways... (groups: admins, event coordinators, players in the event (if you're in the event as well), buddies, players in the arena you're in, players in all arenas, s-list, ignore list)

These aren't huge needs - if they want to sell go to the most popular trading house, or if they want to PK send a guild message or announce it in a popular place.

MysticX2X 09-09-2005 12:45 AM

actually mass's are like posting messages on forums so you can just talk to everybody. Or get help with things, or sell/buy things. But the still a button for it would be very helpful and less annoying to highlight everybody.

calani 09-09-2005 02:04 AM

i still used the keyboard to send a mass on v3 o.O
hell with the button. takes too long to reach for the mouse.

I agree, I'm also keyboard orientated.

napo_p2p 09-09-2005 08:06 PM

Servers with GS2 enabled have the option of creating their own mass messaging tools.

Indeed, however not everyone will do it so its always better to have it built in.
Also maybe have a ToAll chat window like the RC has?

excaliber7388 09-10-2005 03:29 AM

gs2 scares me >_<

Now here's something i've been waiting for someone to suggest.
toall's are really much use since they're the same as a mass. the only difference is you don't have to use the playerlist to send one. another difference is people ignore them or turn them off.
however, with the built in irc in v4, what purpose would this serve? i suppose it would be neat to have two places where people can chat.
