Off to boot
 

I ship off to basic training for the Marine Corps in 2 weeks. From now to then I am going to do family stuff. This "goodbye" is mainly about my developement aspect - I will no longer be developing for Stefan or Shifting Ages for at least 4 months. I won't be posting on the forums for at least 4 months. After boot camp I am buying a laptop and I might be coming back, but I would prefer to just make graphics during my time in the Marines.

Anyway, its been fun.

No, the army does all the kickass stuff. The two recent wars we saw the Army *gasp*. Army is so much more kickass then the marine corps.

Yea, but marines are more trained (hand to hand combat, etc..) and just badass. You don't see as many marines die as you would in the army.

You crazy man? Marines have MUCH larger requirements then any other branch. The boot camp is MUCH harder then any other branch. In addition to intensity, it is longer (13 weeks). Putting all that aside, the marines are the last bastion of honor and tradition in our military. They have pure discipline and stand for courage and freedom.

When I was at MEPs, I was the only guy there going for the marines. There were about 10 army, 2 navy, and a few air force guys. They were all (except 2 or 3) dirty scumbags who just spent time talking about drugs, getting drunk, and sex. Most of them were over there 20s, one guy was already married 2 times. They have no discipline or true american spirit. I doubt they even had a diploma. (Yes, you cannot get into the Marines without a diploma. You can with the army). Most of all, Marines can become all the best special forces. Navy seals, marine force recon, etc. They are the people winning our wars.

I've investigated every branch guys, I know the requirements. Marines were the hardest to get into, and are the hardest period. I want the challenge they provide because High School was nothing. I didn't want to be the guy fixing planes or sitting safely on some base working on computers. I didn't want to go to college and talk like I am for this country when I am willing against it. For that matter, I didn't want to talk bad about this country unless I have done my part. I hate people who are all talk. I'm not.

Army is filled with abunch of n3rds who had nothing better to do in their life so they joined up. Atleast in the Marines you had to work for it. ^^

First off, whoever says the army is more intense, better, or more trained than the Marines is a fool.

I have friends in both, and every one of them will tell you that the Marines are the real deal.

For instance, in Iraq:

In our attempts to secure cities on the way to Baghdad, the army went around smaller cities in the desert and secured perimiters while the Marines went through the center of the city and took the camps and secured cities. Once the cities are secure, then the army sets up base and holds the ground. Marines are the front line who get the job done.

The Marines think the army is a joke, the army is the "baby sitters" they say for the Marines since they hold what the Marines take over.

All the branchs fail in regards to the Navy. The Navy has it's hands in every aspect of war, which is why I'm joining after college. Surface Warfare, hooray!

Yes. However the Coast Guard > All other military branches. You get free stuff and have like a 0% change of having bad stuff happen to you.
