I really like it. If people are claiming it was brushed in photoshop and you did it by hand, then I'm impressed. Sometimes textures work fine in sprites. It depends on the situation.
What are you using that bench graphic for? I'd like to use it maybe. |

Good job showing a texture that i dont even have. Good job making up the grassy effect. I applaud your effort. You are showing just a texture you have. A+ :good game: |
Holy crap, I wish I was a mod here.

That not an effect, it is a texture. Let me tell you the difference: Textures are referred to as textures and are static. Effects are referred to as effects and modify the content of an image with some dynamics.
In addition to what I just said I am commenting on the bench. It is just a bench. Good lord, who cares? That would take about 2 minutes for me to make. It is just a bench. Why would you bother showing that? I was going to say the same thing to that goon who showed a gun. It is a 2 minute image to create. Who. Cares. Do something big and then show it. With this graphics ability in graal never going any where I doubt anything progressive will get done. |
it doesnt matter what it is, pixel art is pixel art hence using pixels to make art not digitally added effects and textures which degrade the whole image itself. in my opinion that bench looks good except for the texture. the texture makes it look like garbage, garbage!

Jesus christ shut the hell up nobody cares (or shouldn't) how the hell it was made. It's all about how it look's at the end. The bench looks fine so shut up already.
^-- that was to everyone *****ing. Yes I added the stars myself. |
I agree with Crono. If I could post more then 3 times a day I would have said what he said yesterday. Graphics aren't about how you make them. He never claimed it to be "pixel art." When someone looks down upon a graphics because it isn't pixel art, that someone is a complete ***** and simply cannot do any better themself. Pixel art is a primitive and ugly style of graphics, and was used in games only becaue technology did not allow for better. We are past that time now and should not stray so far behind what people want today. Pixel art was to generate a cartoony type style in a game; there is a new, superior type of graphics which are meant for that now and that is cell shading with 3d graphics. Drop pixel art and begin doing a real graphics style which will actually get you some where.
|
I agree with Crono aswell. It's just a stupid filter, and if you want to argue like little girls do it over AIM, or some messaging network.
Pixel art shows a understanding of the image you're creating. One has to know how to efficiently shade, gradient, and make decent shapes and outlines, etc, with pixel art... this is all done by software. Sure pixel art can be emulated by software... but it's like technical drawing - sure a photograph would be quicker, but y'know, some people like to do stuff themselfs. But I have to agree, if you're looking to make graphics as a career... Pixel art: Drop it like it's hot. I would get into graphic software suites, drawing programs, and as mentioned, 3D software :) (when combined, you can get some amazing results :D) |
Spliters. =(

The bench looks fine, and the texture/filter/effect/whateveryoudid on the seat of the bench is done well. I think thats all that matters.
Also, lets try to keep this thread civil, and dont post screenshots of that F'ing effects broswer again..or quote it. :) |
