Suggestion: Weapon Dropping

This has most likely been requested before but it's worth a try requesting.

Dropping your weapons in war.

Scripting this would be a rough job so I don't expect too much. In war when a soldier has been shot and has an item of use, you shouldn't leave it there. In a war your goal is to survive and ammunition is a major factor in it. Sometimes I find myself on a killing spree and end up out of ammo and having to either die or go back to the ship.

I think it's a good idea that the enemy temporarily drops their weapon until the start of the next round when they die. This also means that when they respawn they don't get it back until the war is over. Once the war is over, the one with their weapon loses it (unless of course someone kills them and takes it). This could lead to a few problems scripting because that gun could transfer to many owners and has to contain some ID that it belongs to the original person who dropped it. If this idea is put into the game and you think ammo transfer is a good idea then go ahead and do it; It will add to the fun and be a lot more useful for someone who needs a gun with actual ammo in it. The only downside of this is more scripting.

This may be reaching a little too far but then again so are all the ideas above. Temporarily dropping a weapon (purposely) for someone. Same concept - At the end of the war the player who originally dropped it gets it back. Once again, this will add to the fun of zone and give players that extra feature Zone is famous for. I have a plan for this system. Look at the screen shot below.

Where that red circle is could be a button that says "Drop Item". When clicked or selected using the arrows keys, your cursor will turn red symbolizing that you're ready to drop an item. The item could appear with your hands held out and will not disable your movement. You can walk around holding the item so it's something out of the ordinary of "drag and drop" and will provide being able to escape if an enemy happens to run by you (and it seems to happen a lot). If "A" is pressed while having the weapon selected, the weapon's put away. If "S" is pressed, it is dropped. If you need me to do any ganis don't hesitate to ask. I have no problem doing them.

A few sidenotes if this is thought about:

1. Trials should NOT drop weapons. This would only lead to abuse by someone selecting a class and dropping weapons for themselves.

2. It may be a better idea to make the dropped items non-blocking. A lot of people used to drop items to block doorways and small passages as a tactic on Era. Perhaps when you press a when you're in the general diameter of the item he'll walk over to it and pick it up.

3. Items that require a quantity to use (grenades, throwing knives, etc..) will not be returned to the player at the end of the round. Also adding to this, it would also mean that when they are killed with a quantity item equipped, instead of dropping the weapon itself, they need to drop a quantity (one grenade/throwing knife/etc.. ?)

Again... if you are considering this and need any ganis done, just ask. It's not one of those quick weapon additions and would take quite a bit of work; However it would, I guarantee, get more people playing and have more fun playing. I would like to help with as much as I could to get it done.

I like the idea of gaining ammunition from a kill and such, or maybe some health...

But not transfering ownership of guns.

You don't like the idea because it's a hassle to make or because it wouldn't add to any fun?

i would like the idea...but it would make things a lot more difficult....like i only use apps...but if i die i lose them until the end of the round?

Unless you manage to kill someone else who is using them (Not like it's hard to find someone using them. Everyone lames with 'em). In fact you really don't need to kill anyone. Someone might give you there's or you find some laying on the ground that no one took.

Why would how difficult it would be matter to me?

EDIT: Also, I'm not sure exactly how the system is scripted, but I don't think it would be extremely hard to do...
