WAR! HOOH! GOOD GOD YALL! (2002 Improvement Thread, Meaning admins read this)
WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
ABSOLUTELY everything. When we look back upon the history of Graal Kingdoms we will discover a clear and defined golden age of roleplaying. When was it?... 2003. In 2003 we saw the likes of Astri, the Samurai invasions, the Pirate conquests, etc. 2003 was a year that incorperated war into it's very system, and people interacted with war. Every kingdom had atleast 30 members online at a time, kingdom islands had uses, and everyone had fun. Later down the road Graal Kingdoms became a server more about item collection then actual roleplaying. Power gamers emerged and level 10 wasn't so high anymore. Wars began to fade away as one person could conquer an entire kingdom by himself/herself. War grew into a fustration instead of a source of entertainment. With the fun roleplaying element of war gone, there was only political roleplaying (about half of total roleplaying). Political roleplaying in the sense that you make a kingdom house, ascend the ranks, and backstab a friend so that you can become the king of a tag. Graal Kingdom's population went straight down, I remember seeing no more then 20 on 2k2 at a time during this period. The population slowly grew again but it has never recovered since. SO... what does this mean? Well it means if the roleplaying of Graal Kingdoms (what it was intended for, what it was made for) is to survive, then there -must- be equal war. HOW DO WE SOLVE THIS? The equation to the problem is easy; a=b. If you are player a then you are equal to player b in every aspect (gameplay wise of course). Bring back Kingdom-mode only tweak it a little. This tweaking makes everyone have 50 hp, no armor, no extra levels (strength, agility, etc), and their weapons (no matter what kind it is) does 1-5 damage. The actual weapons will not change, they will just hit a person in k-mode with 1-5 damage. When a person leaves k-mode, then their status returns to normal. As stated above, the actual gameplay mechanics of this idea would work in this fashion - If you are in K-mode, then you can only recieve damage from others in k-mode. Others in k-mode can only harm you for 1-5 hp points. If you are in k-mode, then your hp is temporarily set at 50. When you are in k-mode, you can not hunt creatures... it will simply fail each time (in return they can not hurt you). In k-mode you can hurt anyone else in k-mode, but that is it. This will surely bring about more wars, ergo bringing more interactions, ergo improving roleplaying on 2k2. The implanting of this idea will not be hard, just do your services to the players and improve the game. |
I suggested something like that a while ago.
And your description of 2003 is a pretty big exaggeration. |
How about spells then? And mana?

full reset, its the only way

I say we make lots of topics like this, all get angry, then wait for Konidias to do something and support him with animated gif signatures.

And K-mode was awesome, I HATE how they merged it with Battle mode. Used to allow for fun battles without outside interference. Plus kingdoms which your kingdom has listed as Ally, you could not hurt its members in the heat of battle. |
Get Konidas to make the sigs, and I'm in.

Quit slamming on other people. That isn't even the subject, Deb. We are talking about a new idea, not how much this or that person sucks at RPing. Chill.
I think it's a rather good idea. Some sort of an even plane would be nice. Even on games like WoW, the level 60s have to smack the level 20s a few times before they kill them. It's kind of disturbing when you compare that to GK, where you can be smacked by a sword prepped to ungodly stats and die instantaneously. I've seen screens from a long time ago in the callery where everyone was dueling each other with crappy shop-made axes. That crap looked fun. |
No slam.

I think it'd be rather neat, though, to be able to fight on an even plane with someone much much higher than you. Might add a little spice. Heck, even a special kind of arena for that would do. |

WRONG, FOO' You see, Zurkiba has been level 8 for ages. And in that time, he conquered almost every kingdom there is. In other words: Shut your mouth, you don't know a damn thing. You're challenging him to do thing he already has done. * Probably - since you seem to have some attention disorder, we can never know for sure what you mean. |

Nope... only DRK and FRO are the master levelers... I am only a level 22, and I am going to take forest. I think Zurk is being rediculous by saying we all need the same stats... makes sence since he cares nothing about char development and game play... which is a big part of GK. THE BIGGEST part. |
If by restoring the "True" elven royalty, you mean you, I have news: You were never Forest royalty to begin with, you clod.
And if you do happen to somehow miraculously 'take' the throne of a kingdom you are not even welcome in, I can assure you that there's about fifty angry GK players out there who've figured out how to combine the drift wood and nails, and have you in their sights. |
Look idiot, I'm not gonna talk nice to you since you don't deserve it. Got that? Good.
First, adress my ****in' point. Quote:
- Zurk does not say we all need the same stats. - Char development actually is not the biggest part of GK, or atleast wasn't intended to be. |

Gryff hates you.
And if you bring RP to the table, then why are we all dry heaving? |
Deb: You will NEVER take over Forest. Don't even try it. You can scam as many items as you want, but it will NEVER happen.
As for this idea: I like it. Know why? Because the fact that one player alone can take over a kingdom filled with like 100 people is ridiculous. During kingdom wars, everything should be balanced. Why? Because then that will determine which kingdom has more skilled fighters. It won't be about who has a higher level or who has better items, but rather, it will be about who has the best skilled members. Would definitely even things out and give meaning to kingdom wars. Currently, they are ridiculous, since clearly Dustari overpowers every other kingdom (levels/items wise). |
I highly respect the amount of work that Dustari members have put into getting their items, but yes, it would be nice to see us all on an even keel.
|
It wouldn't even make sense for Dustari to EVER attack Forest. You'd think having one of their oldest living Dukes in Forest would help to establish SOME kind of loose peace, ne?
|
I took forest while you were on Bel'la
I have seized the western shore of forest. I will battle to the elvish royalty is re-established.
