Save the Roleplaying

Oi. The whole situation of Graal Kingdoms has reached absolutly abyssmal lows. In the threads about "Bel'la Olpyn", Etien openly assumed that "developing his character" in a roleplaying sense meant leveling-up! We have leaders in most of the kingdoms making terrible decisions, and those few groups that DO roleplay have no way to enforce it. Roleplaying is a delicate balance; that fact has been proven time and time again. If even one kingdom is out of balance, it ruins it for the others. While the server may be in a Roleplaying Dark Age, it's former glory COULD be brought back in some small way, one step at a time.

Step I is the simplest: Staff should select an experienced and mature Roleplaying Administrator. The job of this new Admin would, in theory, be identical to 2k1's Kingdoms Administration Team: to enforce the general rules of roleplaying as they have ALWAYS been, to approve or dismiss changes to current kingdoms, to move the storyline along by arranging events, and to ensure that there is a check on the powers of inadaquate rulers. There are dozens of well-suited candidates! Zurkiba, Lance, Shawn, Kyden, even Alan, though he'd have to step down as Governor.

Step II would entail actually fixing the current problems: bad leadership, a horrible kingdom change (honestly- how do fish/humans turn into vulgar drow at the drop of a hat?), arguments of leadership, etc. It may be too little too late, but it's not too late to at least make an attempt at doing what should have been done when the server began.

The GK Administration Team works in this.
But we decided to create not another "leader". We made a new staff team: RP Team. The team works together to fetch back rp in the kingdoms.
We are still looking for some team members. Talk to me in the game for further informations.

If I am aloud to be in a kingdom and be on this RP team I would love to.

I am happy I am back to graal and seeing roleplaying get monitored.

Fantastic! I've been asking for something like this ever since I came back to GK. Glad to see something is being done.

RP Team member can be also members of a kingdom, except kingdom leaders (because it is the important thing for every leader to enforce rp!)

Isn't that essentially the job of the kingdom leaders? This all depends on you picking suitable people.

xAndrewx 06-20-2005 06:03 PM

Kai, yes. But the RP team will also enforce the general rules of role playing and Graal Kingdoms.

Googi 06-20-2005 06:42 PM

If this is going to happen, then there needs to be some kind of document created that outlines the rules of RPing. The lack of such a document was a problem on 2K1 as well.

The former is what the leaders are supposed to do. The latter is what the GPs (or equivalents) are supposed to do.

My point is not that the idea is inherently flawed. My point is that it has essentially been tried before.

Crono 06-20-2005 08:06 PM

In my opinion rp leaders should be kingdomless because their decisions will be biased.

That's why the RP Team will be picked from a special list.

Yeah, yeah. Do you have any confirmed members yet?

Googi 06-20-2005 11:45 PM

This is pointless. You aren't going to find good RPers who aren't part of kingdoms, and it wouldn't make a difference even if you could. Just make a list of RPing rules and and normale GPs can enforce them just like with any other rules.

Splke 06-21-2005 12:05 AM

RP admins shouldn't be random people either. You throw rights and power to people; that could be used as blackmail and such.

It's an idea sure, but I don't know if anybody really fits the desc. You need somebody who isn't Omniscient when he has power, but at the same time he has to carry himself alot higher then anybody else RPing at the time; he's godda know his ****. ;o

This should turn out to be funny. It's gonna be some lvl 10 person, then a week later he'll be lvl 110, have his own Class, and perfect gear; running around PKing people for "RP Infractions". This should be fun.

Zurkiba 06-21-2005 01:44 AM

Brad and Gryffon, BAM that's -all- you need. Brad knows his Zormites and Pirates and Samurai, Gryff knows his Forest and Dustari.

lol. You need more then just an understanding, you need a general RP understanding. You godda know the in's and out's, and honestly that's asking alot out of a player knowadays.

Not only that, but this RP admin has to have considerable power, or else he won't be able to enforce much.

He also has to have little, if any ties to players so that he doesn't make biased decisions. I think it would be a great idea, but not too practical.

Damix2 06-21-2005 02:07 AM

There will not be a roleplay admin, there will be a team to help encourage roleplaying and deal with kingdom relations, they will answer to Bjorn/Sam

might i suggest Brad (heard he was good at this) Alan Steele and maybe Dreanin?

Splke 06-21-2005 06:21 AM

yes
no
no

i can rp better then the last two

Googi 06-21-2005 06:22 AM

Brad can't do it since, you know, he's going to become the Emperor of Zormite.

DrkXFactr 06-21-2005 08:23 AM

Cheers to this new RP team. I hope it can bring some good RP into the server.

( As it seems RPing is the only fun thing left on GK. You can't pk anymore.. Buildings are becoming no-pk.. And I attacked Kilik the other day, and he told Sam, and Sam told me not to PK. )

juice188 06-21-2005 08:26 AM

wow the fun of GK has been sucked out but RP, make the RP team fast!

Even if so, it would be insane to trust you with power.

Good point, but I don't think these guys get too much power. I'd rather be a kingdom leader anyways. I need to plan my hostile takeover of Zormite.
