Suggestion: Client Messages : /clear etc.

(The messages located in the bottom right of the client)
I'm receiving quite alot of client side lag from all of the messages.
I use '/listen 0' but it doesn't say what I have stolen from the monster. I was wondering if we could decide what we can choose for it to say.
/listen 'praying'
/listen 'stealing'
Etc.
I receive alot of my lag from these messages, anyway to make it less laggier? or a limit to the messages instead?
You pray
You pray
You pray
You pray
You Pray
--No more, max of 5 messages allowed? or a set limit decided by the player could also be even better.
Also events can be sorted through the client messages instead of mass messages. We did this on Era, it's pretty effective and makes use to the whole message system.
What do you think to these suggestions? Do you agree? Do you suggest anything else?

I agree. I always had to keep call 0 up when I was pking. After one spell, you get flooded with everyone you cant hit, and it just causes mass lag.

Exactly, please do something. Thanks for the support.

I agree completely - /listen 0 doesn't show like anything, yet /listen 1 shows too much.
say /listen -1 to really get flooded.....

possibly give a list of all the different types of messages and let the user pick which listen category they should fall in?
such as "you pray" could go in 5, though "a phosphorescent glow envelops your weapon!" may be 2
or "peaceful mode #a cannot be hurt!" might be 8

I rather liked the login messages, yet with those come floods of other unwanted messages, so I don't even bother with those anymore. ;x

Make the 'message' system more flexable!

It's kind of sad that text on the side of a screen lags the game itself. I could understand lighting, but text?

My guess is it's always checking the current messages. Once a new message is displayed it will move the current message up. I would say it's a client side timeout.
