HELP: Decompression error

The server I work for, Zana, has this problem where when you try looking at the levels by clicking the levels folder on RC and a Decompression Error msg pops up and we cant access our levels and we cant log onto Zana anymore. We cant figure out how to fix this and so we need a global who can log on and maybe try to fix it i guess. Its been like this for about a week now. Someone please help? lordVyse tried helping but he couldnt figure it out either.

Moved here, so Stefan can see and help.

You should have deleted this thread and made him open up a support ticket for Stefan or Unixmad. You should also tell him to try restarting the gserver. :-).

1. It wont let me log into support center.
2. We did reset the server. it still didnt work

Why? This is what this part of the forums is for?

In-game bugs should be reported here yes, since they can often solved by other players, or need some discussion about how it should be solved, or could be read later by other players who have the same problem.

It seems you have too many files in the folder, so there are problems when it is sending the whole folder to you. Eventually modify your folder rights to only view a few files (e.g. rw levels/*.nw), then it should only display those and should not produce the error. Then move the files to another folder (organize the files), and continue with other file types (png, gif etc.) until you can watch the whole levels folder again.

That sound's like a good idea considering in her rights she has rw /*/*. I think that's it. Where you dont need to have rw anything else just /*/*.

When i checked all the levels in the folder were .nw if i remember correctly. Try

rw levels/*.graal

Nope. I still get decompression error. I dunno what else to do except have stefan or someone do a server wipe so we can start from scratch.

I'm sure Stefan can do something with the gserver, so you won't have to start from scratch. He can also restore NPCs, but im not sure about levels.

Jaquet 04-26-2005 03:54 AM

Well we have most of the stuff backed up. Im just gonna need help with separating folders so this doesnt happen again.

I've noticed you don't have much active staff members. If you would like me to help again just let me know, i'd be glad to. :)

rw levels/a*.graal
then
rw levels/b*.graal
etc...

try that? Make sure you are removing all other rights for the time being.

Jaquet 04-26-2005 12:58 PM

OK i got it to work. Now what do I do? I cant log into the server for some reason when I go on player.

Malinko 04-26-2005 03:28 PM

Ah yes. This problem also happened with the heads folder on Unholy Nation. A lot of head files. :). Anyways, I just did what Spark said and gave myself "rw levels/heads/a*" etc and moved the files.

matt8891 04-26-2005 04:26 PM

And if that does'nt work, make sure the current level your player is in, is uploaded into your levels folder. Check this by opening your attributes then finding the level in your levels folder.

Jaquet 04-26-2005 10:10 PM

The current level is uploaded. It wont let me log onto any level. I guess its cuz my frined has to pay for the server again.

Jaquet 04-28-2005 02:47 AM

Would A staff member uploading thousands of images into the levels folder cause a decompression error? cuz i looked in the logs and it said a staff member uploaded thousands of ganis gfx heads swords and any other type of file from other servers into our levels folder and so i did the rw levels/*.png and did all the file associations and founds thousands of files, and so i deleted them from our lvls folder and now its working fine again.
