Server Preview

I'd like to post a screenshot of my server's current tileset, and record the player's results. I'm not quite sure if this kind of tileset is right for a graal server so let me know what you think, either by posting or doing the poll.

Attached document = screenshot.

Inspiration 04-23-2005 04:26 PM

I rate them non existant because you did not post them.

Mitch 04-23-2005 04:41 PM

Sorry bout that, had some uploading issues.

Darlene159 04-23-2005 05:43 PM

For some reason, when I opened that screeny up to full size, I thought of NewWorld

Eagle 04-23-2005 06:16 PM

Mitch, isn't that Eternal? Well, Perilous now? I thought Drastic had full control over all the Eternal material?

haro41 04-23-2005 06:19 PM

it all together looks really grainy, but i think the olor of the dirt is too bright. Looks more like sand. Hopefully all the rest of the gfx will match that style

Snakeandy7 04-23-2005 06:30 PM

I hope you have copyright permission for the tiles you're using.

Spark910 04-23-2005 11:37 PM

A bit bitty >_<

Mitch 04-24-2005 01:41 AM

The tiles were made by Drastic Vendetta, such accusations result in penalties. Please do not accuse unless you have valid evidence such belongs to another.

Drastic manages the server along side myself.

Waltz5 04-24-2005 01:49 AM

Well whoever they belong too they are extremely grainy.

Looks like it's filled with just a bunch of filters on photoshop. Yuck.

uh? Well they are, look at the screenshot, full of white dots which gives it a gritty effect, it would probably look better without them.

I think he replied to "I hope you have copyright permission for the tiles you're using.".

Sorry about the ****ty crop (top one).
Looking 'great' :\

Hiro 04-24-2005 04:47 PM

Fun.

syltburk 04-24-2005 05:47 PM

I connect it with Soul Blades server, the cliff? Long time ago I saw a picture of SA though..

Mitch 04-24-2005 06:49 PM

Spark, my post was not directed at your opinion, it was directed at Snake's accusation of copyright violation. I am not the right person to talk to Snake, as Drastic uploaded the tree's to the server. Your best bet is to talk to him about it.

Ummmm, but then again you posted the screen shots. You told Snake "such accusations result in penalties", did you realize that stealing Copywritten Meterial can result in penalties aswell and is more of a criminal offence then a mere accusation.

Hmm yeah, I thought the same but wasn't sure.
It was a little bit lost, as it wasn't directly below his post, it wasn't quoted, and I even looked in the other view and it wasn't connected to snakes, so I wasn't sure.

Only when proven beyond all reasonable doubt, something which is quite hard to do.

Soul-Blade 04-24-2005 09:12 PM

I like it. They are right about the white dots issue, and here is a solution to that.

Your images has those white dots ALL over the place. There is no apparent light source. In addition to having areas with extremely high brightness (white dots), make some areas what are very dark as well. You will see your tileset come to a very high level of realism by doing that. You already have the lighting done - just add the shadows on the object.
In addition, do a little more blending. That can be done with the blur tool or manually, but if you do use blur be very careful. It can be over used a great deal.

It looks very good though. It reminds me of something I made a while back. Nice work.

It looks..ok. For some reason I just have a feeling of the images not fitting the right...heights. Like tree's twice size of cliffs, rocks huge too, seems just too...odd shaped. Maybe it's just me.

Curt1zzle 05-06-2005 02:56 AM

Not bad, I like it.

Original, sort of..

coreys 05-06-2005 03:39 AM

Eh, has plenty of proublems. Like what Okilan said, except that may just be a level proublem, rather than a tileset proublem.

TheJames 05-06-2005 04:49 AM

You guys are to harsh, I'd LOVE to you see try and make that good of a tileset. Excellet job fella's. I'd love to see the tileset progress into an extravigant set of levels. 10/10 Excellent. ;)

It wouldn't surprise me if he scammed a bunch of suckers on GK to make this stuff like he did a while back when he promised people he would make them manager of his server in return for items on GK. >_<

bef 05-06-2005 02:02 PM

I think the tiles aren't bad, though I find them a little inconsistant. Overall I'd give the level/tiles a 5.5/10 (Just above average).

Just incase you didn't know -- the overall bad quality of the tiles results from the .jpeg quality.

However, this does not distort my opinion; in which contains the words 'horrid' and 'tiles'. Try to use less contrast, unless you want to be some type of Enigma esque genetic screw-up. The only thing that looks like D r a s t i C made without using filters was the streetlamps (which are crappy). Although I have no vendetta (pun.) with DrastiC, I'd just like to let him know that filters are never the way out of things - nor is stealing.

xAndrewx 05-07-2005 01:21 PM

Well said Luciano.

Admins 05-07-2005 09:40 PM

I like the tiles, although they need some work, the grass is too pixelated (A "Good" option would have been good for the pool :).

Exactly what I thought. A few of those tiles look exactly like Murasamunes tiles. I made levels for Mura thats why I can tell.

Soul Blade, when I posted before I didnt see that you posted. Could you post Murasamunes tiles if you still have them? I don't know something about the cliffs and rocks look alot like those we worked with.

Sorry for the double post!

Matt 05-07-2005 11:11 PM

I like the tiles alot although the cliff tiles you can use some work in my opinion.
