Evolution (evolving NPCs), wind, and making servers borderless like spherical planets

In this following thread, be it long it not too long for you, you will read of a few revolutionary ideas that will make Graal unique and different moreso than ever before. Here is a brief outline of the material which go hand-in-hand to spice up Graal:
1. Connect the edges of servers' levels (on the overworld) together so that players can walk around them like a real planet--not boxed in and having to turn back around.
2. Separate Graal into particles (air molecules) to create real-time wind drafts and an atmosphere that allow for a better playing experience, more creativity, and real weather (such as clouds, which, as you can see, need the server to be like a sphere/globe by which the edges are made to link together so that they can orbit about the server.
(a) this also allows for real-time elements where, if layered atmospheres were made, 3D air molecules and elements can be formed such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, breath
3. Real evolving NPCs which evolve to millions of different possibilities for many different spectrums. These NPCs can, overtime, evolve lineages (hereditary species), and many other things such as certain NPC genuses familiar/native to certain areas (such as NPCs evolving to the samurai village's environment whereby all their plants are prone to being green or something) and more realistic, unique evolution possibilities which allow players to form/shape the environment/NPC life and by which the NPCs them.
As you can see, it's a developing idea, and many ideas are welcome especially in regards to the Evolving NPCs. Any suggestions, new ideas which can be built if these ideas are made a reality, etc. are all very much welcome and very much wanted. Thanks

All the ideas are attached below.

i really like these ideas, i can see that zone is going to be very big.

great ideas. once graal is based on a better engine, maybe it will be possible.

not really feasible

this could be scripted probably?, not sure how feasible this is either, to keep track of all that information

What would happen at the top and bottom of the map? If you simply connect the edges, you won't have anything like how a real planet behaves.

Do you have any idea how much processing this would take?

It is kind of funny to hear a theist espousing evolution. How much do you know of its mechanisms? You have to understand the original before you can expect to create a hybrid.

And the major problem remains: The players will ruin it.

Kai, players will ruin everything, we just have to make sure they don't ruin everything

And how would we do that here?

csod123 04-03-2005 03:25 AM

not everything has gone down hill has it?

What the heck are you talking about?

Nothing in a NPC can evolve by its own. Some path, whether chosen by the NPC or its creator, must be made first.

For the connecting thing, it could be possible to just warp people from the left to the right side if they go close to the left border (close to x=0). A better solution would be to make like 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 gmaps and warp between them when crossing the map borders.

The next Graal version will support particle effects, that is not real physics but it lets you make quite nice effects without a lot of scripting.

The evolution thing can be more hard. I have heard of games that are in preperation that try do things like that, they are in 3D though, and build dynamically the meshes of the animals so each generation of the animal can look different. We can probably not make it exactly like that, but some genetic crossing experiment could be possible I guess, like for each animal you can define the look of the head, the legs, the arms, the tail, the ears, the eyes, the mouth, and each generation can look different depending on which animals made the baby. Each part of the body would change the weight, speed, strength, intelligence so it is balanced.

Hmm, but it should be like connected, so you never see an end.
