Hire new EM by election
I massed yesterday that we hire new EM´s.
If you are interesting in it, please send me a forum PM. Tell me your time zone and what kind of events you would like to host. Likewise new ideas are always welcome. We´ll extract an applicant selection of 3 players. In a public election in Bomboria you can choose your candidates. Sam Schlurf Events Master Administrator |
You shouldn't rely on the voting house.

This is a very foolish way of choosing an EM. This vote will be completely bias and the most popular player will win.
*sigh* I wouldve figured by now that everyone wouldve figured that out... |
Oh yea, the "Know-It-All guild" is still active! You are all knowing that our preselect including the "popular player" and "powerplayer".

Sorry that you have problems with my english. But this is off topic here. I hope you are not interested in that job, because of the problems you would have when we have to work together!

I like the idea becasue it is not "foolish".
Everyone who wants to become EM can contact Schlurfy. After some time the best 3 will be choosen by Staff. Those 3 will be the canidates who can be elected. All those 3 will be good enough for the position. Only the last decision who of them will get the job is player based. It's a way to give the players some more influence. What should be bad? Quote:

Voting = rigged. People will vote for the most powerful and popular player regardless of that persons' ET skills. |

Every thing else off topic. Just a simple definition. I guess this is listed in the forum rules, too. It seems you don't understand it. All those 3 canidates are slected by STAFF. All of them woulbe be good enough to do the job. We can decide one of them, too. But the players should elect one becasue all the time they say the EM's are not good. So now they should elect one of those 3, we (the staff) elected. Quote:

We can guess.. Aki, Zoe, Ana, Wren...

His english is not that bad, I understood it in the first go around, unlike some people who have english as their first language. |

The mayor event was fine, well atleast the voting was. When I won it, it was very close and people actually did pick who they thought had the best story. I can tell you I was not the most popular person of the canidates. |
It was last time, we all knew cyrin had the best RP story/Kingdom =(

Thats an opinion, obviously if he didn't win then not everyone thought so. |
I can think of no valid reason to decide this by vote. Democracy is only valid if the average voter knows more than the administrators - and if that's the case then we should be replacing the current staff rather than hiring new ones.

Agreed, but for some reason the GK staff think this would be appropriate. The last mayor voting was completely bias and Spike won because he was the most popular out of the three. Spike wore his tag for like a week and then forgot about his responsibilities. If the staff cant decide who would be a good EM, then why bother being in charge of hiring? |

By typo I meant that it was a gramatical error. While I was typing, whom sounded correct, but when I reread it, it was incorrect. |

Ana quit. (I think you should know this by now?) Zoe and Wren is both inactive. (Wren still plays abit though) Zero Hour is more than correct- I'm not intrested. I'm not sure if voting is the best idea since bribes can interfere with it easily. Someone mentioned about giving 'platinum coins' to a newbie, is an example. Why don't you accept applications like you did before, Sam? |
Although asking the community to pick, which would in theory pick someone who most people would want, is a good idea, it can't work out well. People, in general, suck and can't be trusted to make the correct decisions.

1. To give the players the right of co determination. 2. To make the nomination more diversify. 3. To let us have some fun. 4. Because it is annoying to receive all days the same question: "may I become an EM?" or, "why you let him be an EM but not me" and so on... Trying to suit everybody wont work! |

This will just escalate into a popularity contest. Sam you should select the new event masters. Contrary to popular belief, the players do not always know what is best for the server.

While Kai seems to be concerned more with Getting the job done, I think Sam just wants to let the players decide so they feel more involved. *shrug* It's not a big deal, really. |

Not a big deal? The role of an EM is very crucial on a server like GK. Events is basically the only thing holding up the server now. The economy is screwed, everyones quitting, and its all mayhem. The events is basically all GK has now, and each day I'm on and I ahrdly ever see EM's on tag hosting. Its sad that Sam has to host all the time, and sometimes even Bjoern (yes, I spelled this correctly). Have the EM lost interest in hosting? I know that players like to screw up events, so maybe EM's should have the right to pillory, so they can keep control of the events they are hosting. The EM position is more important then they are credited for. |
