ZanderX 02-23-2005 02:18 AM

You and the 0 other people who use BeOS would love this.

And I don't see why this should be made. I DEMAND GRAAL FOR FREEDOS! GRAAL FOR FREEDOS!

how bout both? tons of ppl use beos, u just dont know ne

Unpredlctable 02-23-2005 02:31 AM

I doubt many people have even heard of BeOS, really.

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 02:34 AM

wat about the ppl that DO have BeOS and play graal, they r forced to use a windows pc at a friends house and dont get on it often or dont like windows, i hate windows, thats y i have beos installed along with windows, i also use beos more often

falco10291029 02-23-2005 02:45 AM

I haven't heard pf BeOS

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 02:50 AM

i can post screen shots?

ZanderX 02-23-2005 02:55 AM

Go ahead. Also, there are more people using Linux that want to play Graal than there are BeOS users total. I still don't understand why you want Stefan to go out of his way to please a couple people by porting the game to an essentially dead operating system.

falco10291029 02-23-2005 02:56 AM

post screenshots, sure yeah fine.

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 02:57 AM

"dead" heh, linux uses .sh files right? so does BeOS, but, it wont run linux graal, i'll go in beos in a few minutes, and how do u know if its dead or not?

Because I keep up with the communities of various operating systems, read usage statistics, and generally make it my business to know these things. The BeOS community is tiny. For its size there's a good deal of open source, free development going on but as an operating system, Be is essentially dead unless you're using something like Zeta from yellowTAB. =\

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 03:02 AM

all im saying is ppl still use it, and it would be nice to see graal on it, i seen a program for it that was made in 2004, "dead"

Not enough people to warrant a port of the game to BeOS.

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 03:07 AM

fine, im not gunna sit here arguing, some one plz delete this, well, it was worth the try ne ways, its better than windows, beleave me on that, heck, personal edition can run with windows on ure hd

Butz 02-23-2005 03:25 AM

I would also like to see Graal for NetBSD so I can play Graal on my toaster. </joking>

Kamuii is right. There's no reason for Stefan to spend all the time to port the game to another operating system when the move will bring in potentially.....1 new player?

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 03:40 AM

x.X i have windows dude, i just like BeOS better

Methril 02-23-2005 03:49 AM

The way that you type makes you look like you don't know anything so why would we even listen to you?

ApothiX 02-23-2005 04:05 AM

Doesn't BeOS have a Linux compatibility mode?

As for that NetBSD smirk, *BSD can run linux applications ;)

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 04:38 AM

hmm, i never seen that, i seen sh files in beos that work, i beleave linux uses it also

Probably because it's not really designed for Be because no one cares about BeOS.

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 06:02 AM

hey, opera worked, i just got an error with firefox from a missing file

The italics intrigue you to stop being a stupid loserface. (I'm sorry, it's the best we can do without 'dumbasse' or '*****'.)
Would we really want to have BeOS users that are too anal to atleast switch to a remotely mainstream platform anyway?

Nitro2030ce 02-23-2005 06:51 AM

fine, ill try wat okie said by seeing if it supports linux stuff, i still think its a good idea wether u like it or not, just because u dont like BeOS does not mean u can make fun of the ppl who use it

...yes it does.

Keep it simple windows or mac. We don't need to advertise these operating systems for hackers or to little kids that are going to strain themselves trying to install linux. Unless you have the mind to go farther, beyond the restricted boundaries of windows I suggest you remain on a simple OS.

Unpredlctable 02-24-2005 12:32 AM

As was said before, I doubt any more than one person who is using BeOS plays Graal (that's you, of course). Stefan does not need to go create another version of Graal just for this vaguely-known operating system; that's the pure and simple truth.
Just use BeOS for non-Graal things, and Windows for Graal. Or just quit Graal, and use BeOS, along with the three others that are using it in Canada, or the world for that matter.
Now would be an awesome time for a thread close. We're not getting anywhere with this.

it is not linux :\

Nitro2030ce 02-24-2005 04:59 AM

lol, i just seen a site on beos stuff, some one's message on their forums was posted in 2005 ktnx. no users huh

Admins 02-24-2005 05:09 AM

A BeOS port would be similar to Linux, there is X and OpenGL as far as I know. If there are many people requesting it we could do a port, but it is probably not so important right now. We might do a Linux 64 binary sometime, although the 32bit works there too with compatibility libraries.
About installing Linux: that is probably easier than installing Windows (if you have ever tried to install Windows yourself, not a preinstallation, and then also installed all the gfx card driver, sound driver, network driver etc.)

So? That doesn't matter. And we never said there weren't any users whatsoever.
BeOS is not a major operating system, and is not broadly known.
Unless enough people were to go and request it, I doubt it's going to happen.

Yeah, I really don't appreciate you calling linux basically a "hacker system". Just because the people who are intelligent enough to hack, tend to run real operating systems. Just because linux is more secure and it's used by people who know what they're doing doesn't mean it's a hacker platform and I kind of resent that.

Nitro2030ce 02-24-2005 10:32 PM

BeOS wouldnt be a hacker system, nor is it hard to install
