tons???
If you simple look at the maximum weight we can carry on GK, and convert that to pounds... I see my max weight (2250 kg) is about 4900 lbs.. .thats more then 2 tons...
Now lets just ask ourselves, do we know anyone that can literally carry 2 tons?? For you that dont know 1 kg is about 2.2 LBS And those that are too lazy to do math use this.. http://annica.in-cyberspace.net/en/lbs_kg.html |
Well if you want to have it realistic then you couldn't carry anything when wearing heavy armor, also crafting a bed and carrying it to your house would take some hours ;) Graalians are strong, especially when using their magic powers :)
|
Hmm yes I did see your point to that one too, but to be honest with you I still wonder about the max weight. Could easily change the weights of things if you wanted to, maybe it would make it more realistic and promote RP some.

We can also assume that if we have all of this superhuman strength, we can carry amounts no human in our world could. |
hehe well yea, but not all of use are human.. let alone super.
|
While we're on the subject of impossibleness, how can one carry a flaming sword on ones person without burning ones self.
Look at Graal as if it where the Matrix and remember what Morpheus said: "...the Matrix, it has basic rules. Rules, like gravity. But like any rules of a program, some can be bent, others can be broken." |
How can you eat crystals?
|
So let me get this straight, you want to not be able to carry things?
|
no sir.. I am only suggesting a simple weight revision. I seriously doubt any bed is going to weight a ton... let alone anyone wanting to cary that much, even if they did.. having to drag it a few miles.. seems logical to me..
|
I think that the current weight is fine as it is, seeing as I often reach my limit when getting coal and iron in the mines.
|
Weight is fine the way it is. I mean, do people complain about the realism of Diablo II in this regard? Sure you can run out of inventory space, but in the room you do have, you can easily carry multiple weapons and a few suits of platemail. It's a game, some suspensions of belief have to occur to make it playable. For another example, look at any console Final Fantasy and their Inventory systems. ^.~

Just move the decimal point. 4500kg -> 450.0kg
|
That would be a common fix for it yes, but the problem lies in the will of the person doing the changes for all the items.
Nothing personal to anyone on that comment ok. GK has alot of items and that might take awhile to fix, if it is even considered. |
I still haven't seen a good reason as to why it matters.

Either you uniformly reduce the mass of items or you lower the number of items that players can carry. The former leads to greater unrealism and the latter impinges on gameplay.
We can always just say that the gravity is less than ours, or something. Your max weight is not 2250kg, because kilograms are not a unit of weight. Also why would you convert to the inferior imperial system? |
superhuman strength=???
That isnt right... If We can carry beds and bring them to other places, then why does a punch do a simple bit of damage to a monster, when a sword does Great Damage on that monster... I mean, if you can carry a bed, and for some people, MOVE Houses! How can a sword that couldnt move a stable for fodder do 10x times the damage? Ok, Yah, 460.0 Kilograms. |

Yeah you people are putting way too much thought into this. There's a line between Game World and Real World which i'm sure some people are starting to cross.
|
Main problem with reducing the weight you can carry is that you wouldn't be able to carry all those platinum coins, in real life they are heavy :D

You're talking about the realism of carrying an impressive amount of heavy items as opposed to people who walk around in fire without getting hurt, or perhaps boats that sink because of a coin in the water?
Think -> Post. When I first saw this thread's title I thought it was something useful, such as the ability to hide in tons without your nickname showing. Not some nitpick whining about the fictive amounts of fictive items in a fictive game that is somewhat similar to our life. Not to forget the two unneccesary question marks. Someone please shoot them. |

Yea, I when I first started playing I was like "What the Hell...?" but then I got indifferent. |

I can lift a kabillion lbs irl, this isnt very accurate, my graal player can only carry 3200 :(
|
Welcome to graal, and even more so, to games; ficticious universes where substance meets style and the two get in a knock-down drunken brawl.
Weight is invisible to other players, and more importantly, it's a number purely reflective of a game mechanic and thusly HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ROLEPLAYING. Roleplaying is about imagination. If your imagination is so limited that you can't imagine that a number no one else will ever see is something more or less realistic, than please consider brushing up on your fundamentals. |
