Waterfall Level

1 Attachment(s)
Something I made awhile back just for fun.

I cut away the part of the waterfall so the cave is visable, so just ignore that part.

Probably not my best work, but I still like how the level came out.

kabouter 02-06-2005 03:32 PM

Its ok, some waterfalls look weird though.. i'll give it a 5,5/10

Yeah, Don't pay attention to the waterfall itself, all of that I threw up just to show where the waterfall is

On the actual level, the waterfall is lighted and transparent

Crono 02-06-2005 04:17 PM

Im not a fan of that type of cliff layering, overall the level looks decent. 5/10

I do pay atention to it. If you don't want me to pay atention to it, get it out of there then ;)

Darlene159 02-06-2005 05:25 PM

I like it, shows creativity...not over detailed.
I'm not much on the transparent lighted waterfalls, but it looks cool if done right, especially if it is nice behind it.

Zurkiba 02-06-2005 05:32 PM

Everything is near perfect actually,

Those waterfalls just ruin the whole level I'm afraid. Make them all single lined ones (get the center tiles and just stack them) and dont even make them go over that cavern, it doesn't look right. Fix the river so that it goes to the waterfalls. Yeah, those waterfalls are like -5 points. And waterfalls go on the dark dark water (dark blue).

Light Effects can be your friend. Use them on the lanterns and on the bottom of the waterfalls (see Graal2001's waterfalls)

And take the moon out. Or you could make the level to be at night. I've never seen a moon reflect in daylight.

LordMatt 02-06-2005 06:50 PM

Where can I see the actual level?

syltburk 02-06-2005 08:13 PM

I dont like it at all.

The level is alright the waterfalls look kinda stupid i think they should all like be conected not like the way you have it. Also the waterfall should go over the the cave but be transparent so that the player can see it

Inspiration 02-06-2005 11:53 PM

It's amazing how I said in 2 posts ignore the waterfall, I just put it there to show where it is, and a few people have still complained about it LOL.

Anyway, yes, normally the level has a night effect on it, and I probably should have removed the moon for the screenshot. Oh well.

Methril 02-07-2005 01:28 AM

"Ignore the waterfall"

"Probably not my best work"

Then why must we see it? show us your best work. It bothers me when people post levels because they usually say something along these lines in an attempt to make others think that they are better than they really are. x_x

Instead of saying "No" and "I don't like it" how about stating reasons why?

You didn't say that we were supposed to give a reason? Did you change your mind?

Inspiration 02-07-2005 01:13 PM

Well it's obvious of someone puts something up, they expect opinions, and I'm pretty sure everyone would rather hear "I don't like this because..." than "THIS SUX WTF I HATE U KILL URSELF"

It's up to you if you want to say why you don't like it, but sure, I'd rather hear why

The thing that gives me a UMPH is the way the mountain layers are made and the waterfalls. I kinda like the detailing you put and the river doesnt look too bad. Good job?

Shaun 02-07-2005 05:28 PM

I was going to make a tutorial about how to make proper waterfalls, since I haven't seen anybody able to do it properly, but then I stopped caring.

EDIT:

Nice level besides that though, except for the parts where you have random walking stones and fences. Is this the abandoned farm scenerio again?

Crono 02-07-2005 06:30 PM

Shaun, you mean waterfall with the proper tiles?

haunter 02-07-2005 10:17 PM

You're using the wrong kind of light effect. You shouldn't be using the alphablend thing, you should be using the translucent setting. And it looks dumb with the cuvry foam stuff all the way down the waterfall... It should be straight until it hits something.

Knuckles 02-08-2005 12:10 AM

I like the idea.
I see alot of tile errors, and alot of little things that can be FIXED in order to make the overall look better.

bef 03-01-2005 02:59 AM

overlapping waterfalls look aweful; that lightings pretty bad and yeah, that moon really doesnt suit.

anyway i think the levels about a 4 with waterfall and lighting and 6.5 if the waterfall looked better.

bef 03-01-2005 03:00 AM

because the waterfall is the main focus of the level, atleast for me.

GoZelda 03-01-2005 11:17 PM

Fix those waterfalls, really. They look like tiny waterfalls on top of each other, make one big one (use setimgpart if you're using gfx). Besides that, look at the top of the waterfall :/

googleman 03-02-2005 10:08 AM

*Quickly grabs a lantern and runs away.*

Crono 03-02-2005 02:31 PM

Guys the level looks much better ingame ;)

Inspiration 03-02-2005 02:40 PM

I understand what they're saying about the overlapping waterfall though, I'll have to fix that sometime
