The 3rd Official Graalian Artist's Challenge

Its been a while, lol. My paypal fund has dried up so you'll have to live with it.

-----------------------------------------

Ok, first off, this wont be a Halloween themed contest. Screw Halloween. Instead, its going to be election themed. Fairly simple. The subject is to be a distorted face of the loser of the American Presidential Election. So technically you cannot start yet, or you risk the chance of starting on a peice you cannot enter. OR I guess you could do Ralph Nader, thats a pretty safe bet lol. He looks pretty messed up, anyways. So your subject can be either Bush, Kerry, or Nader; just so long as your choice is not the victor of the presidential race.

Another note: I would like to see some dithering work done in the submissions. Be creative. Just because the color depth limit is 16 does not mean you have to use 16.

-----------------------------------------

Guidelines:

Subject: Any 2004 presidential candidate -- Except Bush! ^^ (woo)
Dimensions: 200x300 pixels maximum
Color Depth: 16 unique colors maximum
Contest Length: present - November 25th (12:00pm EST, 9:00pm PST)
Number of Submissions allowed: 1
Transparency: Allowed
Animation: NO

-----------------------------------------

And of course the rules. Refresh your memory, kiddies.

Official Graalian Artist's Challenge Rules

1. Only submit your own original work.
2. All submissions may not have pre-existed. Meaning, you may not submit old things you have made in the past. The challenge is meant to involve some actual effort, and therefore your kindly asked to try. :)
3. Color depth includes the transparency color of the image.
4. Submissions are not to be accepted after the end date of the challenge unless a justifiable reason is communicated to LordZen before that date.
5. Do not put your signature in the submission.
6. When allowed to submit multiple images, remember that each participant will only be allowed to have one of those advance to the finals.
7. If you post an image in this contest thread, that will be considered a submission. You will be allowed to delete them, however, if you want a newer version to be considered for the contest.
8. No text descriptions in the submissions, about the submissions. Text is only allowed if it is used as a nessisary or justifiable part of the subject.
9. Arguments and discussions regarding this contest are to be done in a seperate "discussion" thread designated for this contest. Simple comments, however, are OK to post in this thread if it regards an image submitted or is a direct question for LordZen.
10. In the case of 2 or more submissions receiving the same number of votes after the voting period has ended. LordZen must cast a 2nd tie-breaking vote.
If you people dont participate I am gonna stab you.. If you are pulling for Kerry and Kerry loses (^^) and you dont want to draw Kerry in a bad way, then draw Nader! There is no excuse!

I dont know what I'll do for prize...I guess at this point I can make that sticky maybe if you guys like that idea.

Bush is so easy to make fun of... I'd love to see the Monkey comparisons people use if he loses.. than again, it'd suck when he does lose. o_o

LogicBot 10-31-2004 05:12 PM

Cool, I'll start on Bush right now.

And can't we do the Libertarian party? :(

Bush better win.

But anyways, sure you can draw Badnarik if you want, but I didnt think anybody would be interested in drawing any less popular than Nader, considering other 3rd party candidates dont even get any publicity generally.

I'm personally libertarian. :) So I was happy you mentioned them.

LogicBot 11-02-2004 02:24 AM

Yeah, I like what they talk about. Less government = More freedom sounds good, except for the possiblity of anarcy.

Honostly, Bush is much easier to make fun of. The monky expressions made by some infamous person was superb. Kerry just... :whatever:

I doubt a Libertarian government would be reduced to anarchy. They aren't talking about the absense of government, but just getting rid of aspects of it which were not originally intended by the constitution, and was not originally part of our government. Like Social Security, and many other government services and programs which could be handled better by private industry.

Gah, 16 colors made it somewhat difficult, but I hope it's recognizable.

lol, very creative.

My main critique is that Kerry doesn't part his hair, and if there is a part in his hair it doesnt stick out very much.

Mine is obviously Kerry (look at the chin), although it does look slightly like Clinton.

Obviously, a majority thinks that it looks like Clinton -- not really all that obvious,I guess.

P.S. It looks more like Clinton than Kerry.

Crono 11-15-2004 06:24 PM

This was literally one night's work, besides the rough outline sketch (which was done prior to last night), and the teeth and undereye/lip shading (which was done earlier today).

Figured I should go ahead and give it a shot since nobody else is..

edit: click it, it doesnt look as good in the thumbnail at that size.

FenixTheBanished 11-26-2004 05:38 AM

You made him look good. :p

LordZen 11-26-2004 08:13 AM

I never said your character had to be sad, but merely in a negative light. I sure wouldnt want bloodshot eyes, yellow teeth, wrinkles, and pink bags under my eyes (lol he has that irl).

LordZen 11-26-2004 08:15 AM

Eh ok I'll close this thread, times up...

That extension sure helped things alot for those of you who thought they needed it. Yup.

Continue discussing in el discussion threado.
