what do you prefer?

a few players critising the way I wrote a review, with opinion, brought some doubt in my mind so I've decided to ask this question.
by the way I will be nulling my vote.

Googi 10-14-2004 02:48 AM

Unopinonated reviews are boring, whereas opinionated reviews have a much greater potential for comedy and colourful fights between the reviewer and reviewee.

i definately agree with you googi :-) actually i think i will vote; just cause i made the poll doesnt mean im excluded

Opinion adds better dimension to the review. People might want to know what other people think. Penny Arcade didn't get where they are now without being fairly opinionated.

Amagius 10-14-2004 03:10 AM

I barely understand how people REVIEW without their opinions.

maybe you should vote ;-)

last night i had someone review Graal News and they said I used too much opinion and bias but context is what helps a story come alive otherwise it would be dull, if you involve feelings of whatever it helps make the story really bold and understandable.

No, it's French-Canadian. The most filthiest language in all the lands. :[

Also, Mr. Journal dude, I could see about doing a weekly comic for this news thing. :)

bef 10-14-2004 04:23 AM

Scott 10-14-2004 04:24 AM

bef 10-14-2004 04:25 AM

Better to have un-opinionated information followed up by opinions.

GoZelda 10-14-2004 04:48 PM

Opiniated. Duh.

calum 10-14-2004 05:51 PM

If this is done by you, a member of Graal News, I would expect an un-opinionated REPORT rather than a review.

Skyerus 10-15-2004 02:01 AM

Opinionated!

Crono 10-15-2004 09:47 PM

Opionated. It's more interesting to read and open to debates.

xAndrewx 10-16-2004 09:09 AM

If these people get a global rc I would probably quit graal.
A hacker is in Gnews called Contiga, So watch out.

Opinions interfere in factual statements, and opinions make very good points, detailing why or if it is good, while the negative things about the reviewed item, are either avoided or meerly noted, deemed not as important or over-shadowing as compared to the good points in the review item.

However.. reviews lacking opinions entirely make it bland, boring, and don't make you a good reviewy. You need to balance your opinions with fact's, and take care not to let your opinions boarderline opinion, and bias.

I've writen alot of Gamefaq.com reviews for games, afew critiquing things that I know alot about (probably a video game or a football related quiery). I don't really know what this thread is directing attention towards, a graal.net return ? ; as well as reviews on Graal related things? Or NGRT ?
