Yeah I know its been a while since any one has seen any progress of Rebirth but better late than never. Heres a display of the house tiles I have been working on:

xAndrewx 09-19-2004 09:17 AM

Very nice tony, I never new you was working on something new :x.
Nice work none the less :D

XxDarkrazorxX 09-19-2004 10:11 AM

REALLY nice :o
I like it!Is it open for public?

HoudiniMan 09-19-2004 10:36 AM

Looks like everything is a bit foggy, might be nice to make the colors a little more saturated/rich?

Spark910 09-19-2004 01:18 PM

It's cool an' all - but have you got many levels done with this? As I always see little examples of the tileset like this, rarther than just levels >_<

Malinko 09-19-2004 03:10 PM

Very nice @ Tony.

TonyRivers 09-19-2004 05:20 PM

Not alot of levels yet spark, mainly because im not done with the tileset.

-hudini It may be because of your image viewer some tend to blur stuff. Try to open it in explorer.

It wont be ready for public release for a good while now. Still have lots of things to do not everything is planed out yet. But thanks for the feed back guys maybe I will make a whole level so you can see more.

ThinkDifferent 09-19-2004 05:43 PM

Looking very nice, keep up the good work guys.

Crono 09-19-2004 05:47 PM

Yeah, keep it up.

It does look a LITTLE bit foggy.

Milkdude99 09-19-2004 05:54 PM

The image looks fine to me.. :shrugs:

GoZelda 09-19-2004 06:01 PM

Looks foggy and I use IE.

Slash-P2P 09-19-2004 06:49 PM

I remember you (Tony) from metropolis/zenith :-)
Your a good GFX person and I know that your server will be beautiful

I am also using IE

I don't know what could be making it look foggy. My only suggestion is open it in mspaint or a gfx program then it shouldnt be foggy at all.

slash- Yeah I remember you and malinko made some of those badass scripts.

haro41 09-19-2004 10:13 PM

when they say foggy i think they want darker more saturated colors, like in outlines and shadows maybe? but the styling is very nice. the house shape is very good

Galdor 09-19-2004 10:25 PM

awesome! =]

TonyRivers 09-19-2004 10:39 PM

I like using light outlines and earthen colors it adds a nice touch to graal's cartoonish style. Every other server has thick ugly black outlines im going with something different.

spark this is for you..

Nitkizi 09-20-2004 12:21 AM

Graal: Rebirth is just a project name for now, I hope?

Yes we will find a more suitable name once we get further along in development

Its probably gonna turn out as "Rebirth" or something.

That's better than "Afterbirth."

On a more serious note. Great job, Tony Rivers. Your style reminds me of a combination of SoulBlade's old tileset's style and Oasis' tileset's clean appearance.

Malinko 09-20-2004 09:42 PM

Make sure to remake swamp and swimming ganis to match your color tone of water :D.

Crono 09-20-2004 09:50 PM

Tiles look great, detail isnt very nice and I can't wait to see the cliff have multiple sides. :)

I originally was going to use a faded style for oasis gfx, but it turned out looking much better with more vibrant colors. Makes things look more alive. I went ahead and tweaked the snapshot you posted a bit. I think it looks less fuzzy now... Though I think the bushes don't look too hot... I think they just kind of stand out too much either way.

Increased the contrast and saturation, decreased the gamma, got the following:

Curt1zzle 09-20-2004 10:35 PM

Looks better, Konidias.

I'm not a fan of that faded earthy look...too "Earthbound" for my liking. It's almost as if you're attempting to make it old and outdated looking. You're taking a backwards step in graal's progress in my oppinion...

Looks good but I prefer Tony's colors on the house...

thrashsoul 09-20-2004 11:27 PM

You need to making sure you really use different colors because it looks like an old pixel videogame.Different colors as in making the darkness/brightless moderatly from the colors next to it.

ThinkDifferent 09-20-2004 11:32 PM

Making new chars right? Because your current doesn't fit in with the tileset.

Judging by his signature, I'd say yes.

I added grass at bottom of the house to make it look realistic and gave the sign more characterisitcs so it doesn't look like a blob.

TonyRivers 09-21-2004 02:19 AM

I like that old faded style I think it looks cool but maybe thats just me. Koni what was that about brushes? I never used a brush on this tileset. We do have grass tiles for the bottom of the house I just forgot to add them in that screen. We are making a new body but its not the thing in my sig.Any way thanks for the suggestions guys.

No, no no.. I said bushes. The bushes stand out too much. I know you posted somewhere that you wanted them to not blend in with the grass, but I think they stand out to much from all the other graphics on the snapshot... like they need to be pixelated better. Kinda just seems like lines all over with green filled in.

Slash-P2P 09-21-2004 10:20 PM

This server looks like it belongs on Sega Genesis or something :-P

Curt1zzle 09-21-2004 10:42 PM

Reminds me of Animal Crossing when you squint your eyes...alot. =D

TonyRivers 09-22-2004 03:26 AM

OH the bushes... I am thinking about changing those they are a little harsh. Once everything is finished you shouldnt have to squint it should actualy be more soothing on your eyes once you get used to it. Here is the latest body sprite I have found its a collabration work between marverick and myself.

MaverickOriginal 09-22-2004 04:24 AM

well uh basically all i have to say is...uhhh...w00ters, Tony pretty much summed everything up. We are still in production, slow and steady wins the race ;)

And then you have to resubscribe for a PW again.

HoudiniMan 09-22-2004 09:26 AM

I greatly prefer Konidias' take on the rich colors.

And yes, when i said foggy i didn't mean blurry, i meant it looks like we're looking at your tiles through a haze.
