You think this may just be one of those servers that just kinda pops in and out of popularity?

"Oh it's back!" "Oh it's gone..." "Oh it's back!" "Oh it's gone..."

Don't get me wrong I loved it too, I made a lot of friends there. Only problem I had with it was the difficult economy. I had a hard time adjusting to it. Otherwise it was the best damn classic-ish server I ever played.

Emily_Cruddas 09-23-2004 06:46 PM

If you ask me or milly then 2001 was a much better server than GK will ever be, it was an all original idea, not based off another online game, and getting powerful was actually fun.

If you want a good RPG, then start from scratch, do your homework, and make sure the game if bug free before you make it public. :whatever:

I'm not a scripter, but how hard is it to look over a few scripts a day and test them all to see if they work right? without having loopholes(that someone WILL find and abuse) or bugs?

Then no game would require an alpha/beta/gamma/delta test...

...wait. Wouldn't that be a good thing?

Not neccesary. Besides, the more complex the games get, the easier bugs get in. That's also why there are so many bugs in operating programs; they're just far to big to work bugs out, and patches only are created for major errors.

Oh right. Not to mention a lot of people would be out of jobs...

Emily_Cruddas 09-24-2004 06:56 AM

That was good info, i will do well to remember.

GK isn't based off another game, it was based off of a shared information source (the mudlib) on sourceforge. GraalKingdoms was in its Beta stage when stefan opened it for "testing" and he just left it opened for too long I guess because people got hooked and it was just too long being opened. So closing it and reopening it would of been hard on some people I guess he thought, because they spent alot of time on it.

How hard is it? Pretty hard. The scripters are working very hard on several projects right now. You can't expect them to do everything in a few days. I mean come on, they are working on GK, v3 client, v3RC, G3D, and stefan is doing stuff for some playerworld some mentioned before I can't remember... And many other things. So give them a break please? :)

--Chris-- 09-24-2004 06:07 PM

Heh, you forgot about Zone Excal =D

Thanks for that, I knew it was Zone... :)

Emily_Cruddas 09-25-2004 12:32 AM

Ok, break is given, but i feel multi tasking like that should be looked at, it really slows things down. ^^

GK isn't getting reset for resons beyond me, but once he takes care of Graal3D what next? it would be a great idea to take it a bit slower so your set of tasks aren't spread thin like they are now.

Stefan working on Graal3D, helping with zone, and what whas it? two other issues? That's quit a bit.

Nidonemo 09-25-2004 01:54 AM

I agree with the slowing down part. Taking on multiple projects can have an adverse effect on the project, the user and the people who play it. Unless he is a master multitasker, which is very rare in human males, he really should pace himself. Time measured, one project is finished faster if all attention is placed onto it, once attention is split up among other things, it takes longer.
