Ranks...

The leaders made some ranks, and I dont know why we have them.
like this one: Minister, why do we need a Minister if we dont use it???
and I can tell loads of those weirdo ranks. :whatever:

Dehitay 07-30-2004 07:39 PM

The Minister rank is part of the wisdom rank tiers
instead of going by the typical crewman ranks,
we have given you the option of going on ranks determined by your experience in either your wisdom, magic, physique, or agility levels

XGoLink 08-01-2004 05:26 PM

I am not talking about the Minister rank only, and I do understand it is a rank of wisdom and stuff, but I want a reason why we need a Minister, why do we need a minister?

Minister also has a religious (Christian) meaning.

One who is authorized to perform religious functions in a Christian church, especially a Protestant church.
Roman Catholic Church. The superior in certain orders.

So it's not like what you probably think it is, a Government official. Even though it's still odd Graal uses Christians ranks though the Gods aren't Christian.

Why do we need members?
Why do we need crews?
Why do we need kingdoms?
Why do we need Graal?
It's not a matter of need, it's a matter of making the game more fun

Raelyn 08-01-2004 10:54 PM

The reason there isn't anyone in the minister rank is probably because it requires like level 30 wisdom and no pirates with level 30 wisdom 1) exist 2) want that rank.

I was the only pirate with level 30 agility, and the only pirate qualified to be the assassin rank, and since I was the one who created the whole Rogue tier, I was happy to take that title, even though I was told later that I had been past over for captain many times because they simply knew I would rather be an assassin. Seriously, any **** can become a captain of a ship, how else do you explain what's his face with "Captain ____ _____ of the Outlaw Star (pirate tag yay)", seriously, naming your ship after an anime should be against the rules, considering naming YOURSELF after an anime is against the rules. :whatever:

Anyways, Assassin > Captain, lvl 30 agility is harder to get than the requirements for captain. Therefor, it's more rare, and commands more respect than such a cliche'd rank as the ol' "captain".

However, I do agree that "Minister" is a pretty stupid thing to have in graal, but then what else could you replace it with, it's a pretty specific definition.

I mean, a wisdom tier would be like, monk > cleric > priest > bishop > minister? I knew when I was in KJ for like a couple months way back I was special and I obtained the rank "Mitsukai" ("angel" in japanese) and was higher rank than the head priests who had been in the kingdom more or less forever simply by asking for it. :whatever:

Replace minister with "Archangel" or something, it would sound cooler and make people try alot harder to get thier wisdom up to become that rank, although, it would be kind of ironic if a balor priest got that rank. :whatever:

XGoLink 08-03-2004 07:54 PM

Somebody has the minister rank, Sam does..

Dehitay 08-03-2004 08:25 PM

At first when he said there was a minister,
I freaked out and thought somebody in Pirates had level 30 wisdom
>=D

-- Religious -- (Priests)
Archbishop (Wisdom - 30)
Bishop (Wisdom - 24)
Minister (Wisdom - 18)
Adept (Wisdom - 12)
Acolyte *(Wisdom - 6)

List my Rogue tier. ^^

-- Rogues -- (Thief)
Assassin (Agility - 28)
Rogue (Agility - 24)
Brigand (Agility - 20)
Pickpocket (Agility - 12)
Troublemaker (Agility - 6)

If I wasn't a mayor, I would make a mental tier
and I could be a Wiseman and tell off all the Philosophers

2003_emily_2003 08-04-2004 06:57 AM

Errrmmmm.....

Okay give meh the ones for the magic XD

I blame the kingdom layout. Each kingdom shouldnt have their own goddamned continent, its turned the pirates into a ****in' community, and killed kingdom interaction on a whole.

Dehitay 08-04-2004 08:42 PM

I prefer to think of Crescent Isle as something like Australia
a country founded by a bunch of criminals

Monkeyboy_McGee 08-04-2004 09:46 PM

Yeah but aside from the beauty found in several places of australia, like the barrier reef for example, australia sucks. Although, fosters is good...

Yeah. Dustari and Zormite should be on a continent. Samurai and Forest (perhaps with main linked to one of the two islands, or no main at all) too, and Crescent Pirates should be a smaller island.

Finally, somebody else that realizes Australia to be only as good as the people who founded it

I hate the boats, traveling on them is slow, and bugs a lot. I wish it was all ONE continent, like 2k1- besides, what reason does a kingdom member have to visit their island? To see their house? That's about once every week or so. There's nothing to do on these islands, so they just dont work.

Yeah, a bunch of bloody CRIMINALS. If australia weren't inhabited, it'd probably be a good place aside from the fact that it sucks ass due to the heat and lack of water'n'****.

No mannnnng. Main shouldnt be some pansy little island, it should be A CONTINENT. Or just solid levels, HUGE, like the size of a -real- server's Overworld.
Then you should have a small island, and im talking small, like...not much bigger than faraway island, smaller than hotaru. This should be for the pirates.
Then you should have an aquatic kingdom under like, the circle sea or event island for the zormites.
Samurai should be in the east, in a desert, like it should be
Dustari should be in the southwest, with their kingdom surrounded by walls, like it should be
Then there should be a proper forest below/around Mount antora, and this would be the forest kingdom.

kaythancksbyie

Edit: Playerhouses should be eradicated entirely except for things like kingdom royalty or high-rankers.
The rest of the kingdom members should have large rooms (that only they can get into) inside the castles with their kingdom leaders can assign to them, and take away if need be.

Wow.
Maybe it shouldn't be "Dustrai except started by criminals and have an odd outback accient" instead of Cresent Pirates. this is all a big discrace to Ghost Pirate.

Dehitay 08-05-2004 07:54 AM

Like I give a damn about Ghost Pirate
He's gone
and until he comes back, there's no point in mentioning him
Get over your damn traditions and realize progress is a possibility

GoZelda 08-05-2004 08:16 AM

The one that posted that is a complete retard and goes by the account XGoLink, but due to cookie settings posted on mine.

Owned, if i do use a retarded word myself.
GP may have been an awesome RPer, but, well, so what? If you're all going crazy just because he RPed well, then WHERE THE HELL IS MY PRAISE, EH?!!?!?!?!?"!?1111ONEONEONEONE.one.
GP may have been a great leader but, well, so what? There are plenty of other people out there who would make great leaders if given the chance.
GP may have been all of your friends but, well, so what? Just because you don't like other people, doesn't mean they aren't good at stuff. For example i don't like jagen or lance, but they're still gk's best scripters or w/e.

GP ain't comin back, mang, so quit whining about stuff like this - especially when, under the circumstances, alisa and kerith are doing a ****ing brilliant job of running a kingdom. Would you prefer to have a dolt like MarkB back on top? Yeah, didn't think so, now shut yer slagholes o_o

The Ghost is not as dead as his name makes him appear. Probably best not to offend someone so into the Vengance department. And yes, these new ranks ARE a disgrace to the Ol' Cap'm

Dehitay 08-09-2004 12:56 AM

Dedicated your soul to a man that does not return is a disgrace to logic
If Ghost ever comes back and takes control of Pirates,
THEN his words matter
But currently, his words are just as valid as Nemesis, the old Game Master
Until he is an active member of Pirates, I DO NOT CARE
his traditions are nothing more than traditions
and if they hold us back, then sux to those traditions
As long as I am given any kind of authority, logic will be a fighting factor

Right, because the voice of experience and the wishes of whoever first created the group are meaningless. Does this mean that whatever a former president says should be ignored because they are no longer in office? Just because the person isn't there dosent mean that their logic and expertiese are any less valid.

Dehitay 08-09-2004 05:46 AM

I'm not claiming Ghost Pirate was illogical
I'm claiming this anti-progress BS is illogical
and it's the batch of you bumbs that say Ghost Pirate is turning in his grave cause we're progressing
If that's what you want to relate his name to
then you're the ones responsible for ruining it

Geno 08-09-2004 09:47 AM

you are all bastards and i hope pirate crew dies.
oh who cares about ghost? who cares about traditions? who cares about the history of the pirates. Ghost friggen INVENTED Cresent Pirates and made the whole island himself. you useless bastards could atleast show some friggen respect.

Progress?
pretend your a pirate. (role play if you will) then read all of your new rank ideas. now what is this progress you speak off?
PIRATE? GET IT?
PM Lance ask to become a paladin. Thanks.

Dehitay 08-09-2004 10:24 AM

So now Pirates have made a community
I'm not a hermit who lives in a shed and fears change
God forbid it resemble real life instead of your fantasy
You do realize that Pirates lived with priests and other kinds of citizens, don't you?
Now we have more ranks so people can RP even more ways
And such progress scares you so much you call to your dead traditions that Pirates are nothing more than barbarians that sail in ships and pillage villages and other ships
Add some dumb ideas that every Pirate is missing at least one body part or they're not truly a Pirate

Ghost Pirate started the kingdom
He made the levels and the rules
Then he got banned
Somebody else came in charge of Pirates
They editted the rules and kept Pirates going
such and such happened till the current administration came in charge
and now we're progressing even more

GryffonDurime 08-09-2004 01:56 PM

GP was....well, I can't talk about the ban but I can tell you this. You haven't PROGRESSED. You've regressed. You're Dustari on water. The ranks are uninspired and most of all DO NOT FIT WITH THE PIRATE CANON. It's like Padren suddenly declaring Dustari to be an Elf Kingdom!

There you go again thinking that your idea of pirates is the right idea
Do you have any clue what the true life pirates were like?
most of them weren't even outlaws, they were part of the British navy
Just because it doesn't match YOUR view of what pirates are,
doesn't mean that it doesn't fit the pirate role
As for regression/progression, it is true I wasn't around with GP
So it is quite possible his system was more advanced
But I have been around since about right before Valder gave the kingdom to MarkB
and from that point, it has progressed

GryffonDurime 08-09-2004 10:53 PM

You try to glorify your logic with progress. But as I've said before, it's not progress. I've been told the original intent of the Pirates was to be "Monkey Islandish", not "british navy brats". Now, progress would mean continuing on with an idea but improving it in ways that the general majority find to be a boon. Now, you havent "progressed" from the idea of the Pirates, you've ravaged the entire concept and history and turned it for you own agenda. Congratulations, now just change the name of the kingdom to England and be done with desecrating what GP built for so long.

The Soviet Union could have stuck with communism and progressed in that government
but I consider their switch to democracy/capitalism to be a quicker form of progress
You consider the idea that holy men and wizards can also pillage ships and villages to be radical change
I consider it to be common sense
all humans are capable of the same evils and goods
