I really like it. The only thing that bugs me is the tiny, deep red spot on the top.. almost looks like a wart.

That is uuuuuuuugleeeeeeeeeee. Sorry man, lets put it this way: if you'd never have made the ice version, or had made it first, i would have thought that rose looked damned good....but it just looks crappy because the ice one looked so good o_o

That just screams out "IM A RECOLOURATION! BURN ME!" and the petals look like a big blob of red, rather than petals :frown:

I like it looks really nice, but yeah, the petals do look like a blob, but the colors for it are very nice.

I sort of like it more than the ice version. The petals could have some more "advanced" light to them, but it's really nice the way it is. Colors = pwnage.

I prefer the ice one, just because this one lacks contrast. I'm not a fan of the dithering style you use, and you know it. It also has a gradient feel to it. :\

What do you have against dithering? I know you dont like it, but what did it ever do to you? I kinda like the look it gives the image. I need to work on my AA skills so I can start doing some fancy stuff with it.

hm...I have seen that rose before somewhere, i dont mean the ice one, ive seen that one colored otherwise somewhere before I think..

Gradients just look awful.

a gradient is just a blend of 2 or more colors. how does that make it awful? confused.

Gradients are just awfull, sorry. Unless you want your stuff to look like plastic ;O

Gradients does in 95% of the cases not provide a natural shade, it doesn't look realistic. That's why the pixel artists for say, the final fantasy series (SNES), dithered "lighted" areas instead of just gradient them. As myamoto said, makes stuff look plastic.

w/e gradients are good for things, you just have to know when.
and goboom, the shape on your rose is very nice, but i feel it needs more contrasting colors. deeper outlines and more variations of saturation in the red of petals.

I have a rose too.
I like my colouring more, although my rose is less authentic :(
