How do you know...
How do you know if a graphic is allowed to be used globally or not?
|
Common sense.
|
Zing! We have a weiner. [weiner as in the funny spelling of winner]
|
What graphic could you possibly be talking about that has the possibility of being used globaly? Considering that, its currently impossible to do that, and all (adding new global gfx).
|
you knew he meant if it is availible for public use, such as gfx from classic graal or graal 2001
|
Actually, I honestly didnt read it like that. lol
Rufus, its safest to just use gfx on a server that the staff for that server made.. Virtually nothing is allowed to be used globaly since most gfx are made by individual playerworlds, and only those servers get to use them if they want. From GK, you can use the trees, and I keep forgetting what else. I've heard different things about the grass tiles and such from GK. |

If you're talking about things like candle.gif, I have no clue. I think that graphics which dont have the playerworld name in them should be able to be used by everyone. Like window.gif :/ |
Generic names, like bomb.png can be used.
|
i have my own rule that says if it doesnt have playerworld_name.ext
i can use it |
Not such a great rule. Because if somebody gets pissed and can prove that they made it, I'm still gonna side with them.
|
How can someone prove that they have made a graphic?

Okay, this is why I think that graphics should be downloaded into separate folders named after the server they came from. Then there should also be an offline/ directory and a global/ directory.
As for the style argument, I definately have my own style... ex. I chop up a lot of stuff into sprites... Ex. One thing I made was a spider body, two spider heads (one red eyed, one green) and a pair of legs. Then I moved them into gani. These should be GFX rules: No rectangular graphics using just tiles from the tileset (some people make them to cover the tops of their doors... this can be just as easily achieved by doing showimg.. for loops can even make the script shorter). I think I was thinking of another one but if I was I forgot it (for now at least). |

Rufus. What are you trying to do? Argue in favor of being allowed to use anybody's work? Its actually really easy in most cases to tell if a particular image belongs to another server. Firstly, you dont usually find large conspiracies of every staff member lying, or every player. If somebody was trying to lie, with as many people as there is playing the different servers, you can rest assured that somebody is going to be able to see through that. Your describing it as being something more difficult than it really is. But, of course, if by some mistake of chance there is nobody able to provide proof beyond a doubt that it belongs to a particular playerworld, I can always simply check the dates the image was uploaded on each server to see which server had it first... |
What if you find 2 server's with the exact same date  j\k sorry :spam: :spam: :spam:

Name one instance of such a thing happening that was never able to be resolved.
