Umm, Unixmad's Suggestions Thread Returns
 

Okay, Unixmad asked for suggestions on the forums. I think he offered like a month of gold for the top 10 suggestors. The current ideas were:
Graalthemed Icons (I did a few to scale: Chest for forum, gralat from state.png for announcements/PM for thread (blinking if new, red if hot, orange if hot and you posted last, Noplayerkilling X through it if it's locked, etc)
Pet battles (We can attack each other on the forum like it's one of those webpage battle games)
There were more, right?

IP lock moderator accounts.

You should have one of those Forum shops. Where you buy things for fun. For example, Haunter holds a "Best graal level" competition and the winner gets, say, 50 points. With these points he can buy things like maybe effects to his name? (glowy, shadow, "graalian" green, etc.

It would also be a good idea to take off the post requirement for avatars and make it so that you can buy "rights" for an avatar instead. That and buy "rights" for a custom title.

I like that idea: IP Locks are good, security is good.

Buying stuff with the points could work well with petfights...

I suggested the pet hack before :)
But thats while they were installing them, its a nice hack and idea.

I thought of that because I visit Acmlm's Board sometimes,
they have nice layouts over there.

the more posts you have the stronger your pet should be

and you should get to pick what kind of monster it is like a fish a dog thing a cat thing

color too etc. etc.

-for streamlining the difference between linear mode and hybrid/threaded-
Invoke automatic quote (char limit of ~100) of post replyed to for threaded replys on linear peeps' browsers, plus merge posts made in quick succession to alleviate the appearance of "double-posting". Then, this isn't really a hack suggestion, but everyone that doesn't use threaded view needs to hit the right buttons so their posts show up correctly in threaded view. For the most part, that isn't a problem, but some people slack off :\ (I don't even remember who so I couldn't name names if I wanted to)

How about an option under the players account, i.e add to buddys, check for previous posts (with you related in them only). Things like that, and also I agree on the rate user

if you click the user name that already here o.O', and yeah take back the use rate =P

for the smileys make the faces a template of the basic graal head the newbie head and make him smile,frown,be mad, etc. ^^

...We still do not have anything to talk about for any VIP forums so it would just be a spam forum til then, so just wait

Here's some of my suggestions...

• A spot for most played server, in your profile, and user info next to your post
• Onlinetime counter for the forums
• Thread rating system (so we can see which threads are worth reading)
• Add a section for ALL graal players with upgraded accounts
• move the playerworld sections (for each server) to there, so the actual players of that PW can post, instead of only the handfull with VIP or Gold accounts.
• Also add a guilds forum in this section, as well as a general discussion section (so 3 sections total for all upgraded accounts)
• Add the VIP forums (as people have already said)
• Inside the VIP forums, have the Graal 3D section as said before, and also, have a section for Private playerworld discussion, and then a general discussion section.
• Create a 'happy birthday' section, just like you have a 'hello and goodbye' section... then have all posts made in those 2 sections NOT count twards your total post count. (this will lower spam, and get rid of all those happy birthday threads in the non-graal section...)
• People with VIP accounts should get a little something extra next to their name in the forums... like a * or something, to show they are a VIP member.
• Add an option (if there isn't one already) to enable/disable other people's signatures when you are viewing the forums.

We just got rid of the useless stats and you wanna try and bring them back? Bleh.

The playerworld you PLAY and WORK ON were added to the profiles by me, but they have gone due to backup restore :S

how about allowing customized smileys? like, so people can use their own personalized ones?

How about...

When you log in and if you have played Graal Kingdoms, then it would load your character into the forums and you can fight that way, but it wouldn't affect the server.

You can challenge people, but they must accept.
You can request to cancel the challenge, again, they must accept.
You can not challenge or do anything else with your character until the challenge has ended or been cancelled.
Before the challenge begans, you choose weapons and armor or what not.
Have it turn-based, on a turn you can attack, cast a spell (drop-down list?), use items such as potions, or perhaps choose to defend (reduces damage majorily).
Keep a record of wins/losses just for fun. Maybe reward the top three players each month with something special.

You get the general idea.

Wouldn't be any fun for those of us who don't play GK, and would rather not play GK

Perhaps you can start a character, but have g2k2 graphics and item names. You can visit the store to buy spells, armor, weapons, potions, etc. You can randomnly find items or money when browsing the forums. You can bet on your fight against someone else, winner take all or just gain money for winning.

Perhaps the warp ring for a moved thread, and like, a gold gralat for 'hot' thread, red for 'active' thread and green for a long-died thread.

add a forum for selling items on GK, also maybe add a little GK char in your profile that you can customice and add your items to so people can see what items you have on GK

again, that wouldn't be fair to those of us who play other servers, and not GK

maybe if you could do the same thing for a classic character, and for other servers... then at least it would be fair for everyone.

and ok Es, I didn't know it was an option :P since some people were complaining that sig's take up too must space, I assumed that if the option were available, they would have just turned them off.

Bring the old forum style back is actually a good suggestion.

I have a suggestion. When a mod deletes my topics, i have no idea why they are gone. I would like to see a [View my modded messages] or topics button.

There should be a public listing of all the playerworlds' own forums, dynamically updated, but you have any idea what a hassle it was just to keep track of who was the admin of the PW for the 10 PW forums we used to have? Plus every week, 3 more want to be added and 10 more ought to be removed, oi. The list will be trouble enough, if people really want to talk about Valkorlia they can do it at Valkorlia.com or whatnot. Let them worry about it, and let them be the supreme arbiter of such things. Downside, more forum passwords to remember/risk of using the same one for everything (bad), upside, they can let classic members post there or even turn off the You must be a registered member to post restriction if traffic's low enough.

Godno. Perhaps based off time on the forum, perhaps just everyone gets about the same thing, but postbased will be g'dawful, let's not reward people for :spam:ming cleverly. I'm not even a big fan of making it based off how many victories you've had, as that'll make it such that whoever wins the first few becomes invincible and the newbie who walks in just gets forumslaughtered. Rather than a beat him up and steal his lunch money system, or even a knock him out and gain experience system, just a sparring system. You don't gain anything but prestige. Maybe some clever configuration to it so you can strategically plan your defences rather than everything being a double knockout...I dunno, the hack might be a right pain to alter. Ideally it'd be based off alliances, you pick two allies who, hopefully, weren't already knocked out; you add to their defense when they're attacked, they add to yours assuming they selected to when you are.

Agh, please don't add any fancy ridiculus things like pets in the forums.

Just have them be - normal forums.

How about.. At a certain amount of posts you can go into shops, instead of just ohay look 1k posts we can make our own name thing or whatever, you can go in and get a special amount of storage for your PM box.. :0

This is precisely how I feel. We don't need fancy stuff that will make these forums slow and bloated. Just make them nice, normal forums. =\

Yes, and I ment ONLY for public playerworlds.... since management on public servers isn;t supposed to change often, then it shouldn;t be that bad.... also, since forum passwords are usually the same as your graal password when you sign up, I don;t see how it could cause people to use the same password as something else?

anyways, it would be nice to have more of a classic presence in the forums... I mean, they're graal players too, and they supported graal by buying an account at one time... so I think they deserve at least 1 small section where they can communicate...

How about them status bars on the left, but they have a purpose? Like what screeny said? So you log onto I don't know, UN for example. That would be your deaths/kills/hp/mp bla bla bla. But if the last server you was on before going onto these boards was Graal Kingdoms, make it show a kingdom tag and all that stuff.. :)

Do you mean the player's time in Graal? or Time on Forums?
For the forums, it would be bad because people would idle forever.
