Mansions/castles

I just had this idea, maybe there should be added two more "houses" to be build by players, a small wooden shed for storeage to the people who just want somewhere to keep their stuff, and a masion/castle for very rich players, and i mean VERY rich players.

The mansion sould be pretty big, maybe a 2 level main floor with two bedrooms a kitchen and a livingroom and a 1 level basement with storerooms, a jail and whatever you would have there ;P This could be used for kingdoms to build their own castles if the idea of gaurdstowers waas added too.

Also the building flag for the mansion should be very expensive, maybe something like 10.000plat(maybe more) also the normal houses building flag should be increased to 1000 plat and the sheds should cost 100 plat.

The small sheds should just be made out of nails and boards only, and would have a very small inside level, maybe there would be room for a bed and two chests and a torch and nothing more. Also the shed could be used for a barn to the masions owner's horses? hmm...

I like the idea of a storage shed, but not the mansion. Rich players have the advantage to be rich, they can build a second house and call it estade ;)

Myomoto 04-08-2004 12:07 PM

I wanted to get rid of all the those "second houses" ;O

Do you think larger houses qill prevent people from building additional ones? ;)

Myomoto 04-08-2004 04:28 PM

If they are large enough ;)

I know I would. I have like 10 on KJ
and 3-4 on dustari.

Monkeyboy_McGee 04-09-2004 12:09 AM

More room would be elite, but i think it'd be much easier to allow people to have basements as suggested by some guy in another thread. Mansions wouldn't be without their charm, but, well, if only the richest players can have them, where do you draw the line?

axman36 04-09-2004 03:51 AM

no castles, we got kingdom castles, and thats good enough

GTXOO 04-09-2004 03:58 AM

been suggested already
in all ways you have said

but it has been suggested as a BIG home, 2 floors, and a cellar.

You see, my point is we remove those... ._.

axman36 04-10-2004 09:59 PM

WHAT!!!!!!!!! no, then were the heck do we hold all the castle stuf????

Satrek2000 04-11-2004 08:48 AM

Leave the castles where they are, apart from being a good site for rp-occasions and events, they don't hurt at all - specially if they are fitted with furniture and such, as some are currently working on.

GTXOO 04-11-2004 08:43 PM

It should be materials not money to make a bigger place.

Materials and money is just the same, from a certain point of view - rescources. If you have a lot of material, you can make some money by selling it, and vice versa.

BLOODY-SWORD 04-12-2004 12:54 PM

i think the shed is a good idea but the mansion is strange, it COULD work but under certain conditions, for example not the riches of a player cause 40% are rich as hell since money is easy to get, but more something like the rank of a person inside the kingdom, but still it would be pretty pointless to have the mansions, the shed would be a good idea though

Myomoto 04-12-2004 02:03 PM

Maybe a limit to the amount of mansions on each island? (or as suggested high ranks can only own them, they could hire low ranks to build them though ;)) Hmm... i really like the idea of a basement anyways, you could have a secret trapdoor hidden under you bed! It would be a great addition to a theives home to have his own black market in the basement ;) You would even have secret groups down there too... *pokes Stefan with the basement plan*

Hey i like that thieves and secret groups stuff! *Joins in with the poking*

I don't like the idea of restrictions for the number of elite houses - that is, I don't like the whole concept of elite houses ;). I specially dislike the number, as it would mean either you can be "elite" enough (in a positive sense) and not get one, as well as an ex-elite blocking a slot by not giving up his house...

Myomoto 04-13-2004 08:43 AM

A'right forget about the mansions focus on sheds now XD

Well that would be different if there were actually quest items you had to get to make your house bigger, which could not be traded, but only gotten by completing your quest. But in my opinion there should be many more types of quests in this game, it would keep things interesting. People who have friends give them everything kind of miss out on the whole game then have nothing left to do.

Anyway, I don't believe a house should get bigger at all on the outside, just maybe a little better looking as you improve and inlarge the inside. Then you would be a little proud of your home. :D

But they need to set it up where there are the 3 floors, like said before, but you can restrict access to whichever floors you want. So you could have a shop on the top floor and no one could ever get in your living room.

If you want to improve the living quarters on GK though, i suggest you take a look at the way animal crossing has its houses set up. If GK had a system kinda like that where you could display things without getting robbed it would be much more interesting.

BLOODY-SWORD 04-13-2004 10:09 PM

maybe we can mix the 3 ideas, maybe we could have quests that let us get items to add something to the house, like an item to add a second house with a door so you can let peaple in downstairs but not upstairs, and an item for the basement, and item for second room or things like that, and if you get all the items and use them on the house your house will be as big as a mansion

yea, thats exctly what i meant, you should need a certain tool to build your house bigger, and have a total of like 5 steps (house, small basement, larger basement, small top floor, larger top floor)
and as you improve it makes it look all fancy on the outside.

But in no way should the house get bigger on the outside, all that would do is cause more lag and less room, we don't need any of that.

Actually, I think a mansion could work, with changes...

1) Multiple people can own it and begin to work on it (families)
2) One person working alone at a powergamer pace would take a week, a casual gamer would take a month.
3) More then one person working on it would cut the time, obviously.

Just some ideas for those of you who really want an "elite" house.

Yeah but the powergamers could just help each other build theirs.
Perhaps the kingdom leader could grant these mansions only to members of their kingdom who they deem worthy, and noone else?

Yea, you could live in families, until their is a dispute and the whole family gets robbed by one bad player. That is obviously a really bad idea. I AM talking about it taking weeks or even months to make your house bigger, that way people who put more time into building it have something to be proud of. After all thats why we all play this game.

Plus what your saying is no different then me building the 20 houses i have built in my time. If they set it up where you have a storage area, living are, and shop in every house, i would only really need 1 or 2 and if they are no bigger on the outside they would not take up any more space but would reduce the amount of houses we already have up.

I also did like the shed idea, it iw was real small, but had good storage space.

First off, i'm thinking that mansions have added security - you cannot take ANYTHING in it unless you are one of the owners.

EDIT: I see what you said now - if one of the owners robbed everybody... Then it's their fault. That's like saying "Here's my password, don't do anything bad with it."

Second off, yea, you could build 20 houses, but the point is that a mansion is more of an "I have a mansion and you don't" thing.

No, it doesn't have the same effect does it, unless you're playing monopoly of course (and then they say "no, i dont have 20 houses, i have 20 hotels. I think you're bankrupt now plz") XD

I think the way mansions could work is that you have lots of rooms, each with their own locked door and separate key. You can't make copies of these keys, but the owner of the mansion can loan out the keys, and/or their borrowees can pay rent. If the rent isn't payed, some automated system needs to be scripted in where the owner gets the key back regardless of where it is or where its beholder is.
Also, to prevent some arsewipe from saying "here's the key, keep all your valuable stuff in there so that i can take the key back and steal all your stuff", it'd need to be made so that the owner can't get into his tenants rooms, until the key gets withdrawn because the rent hasnt been paid to the rent npc.
Also there would probably need to be some admin guy that regulates how much a person is charging rent. if it's too much, or too little, the guy doesn't deserve to have the mansion and it should be confiscated o_O

Myomoto 04-14-2004 05:21 PM

That sounds more like a hotel :O
I think the idea of kingdom leaders would have to give you the building flag could work, but they would have a limited amout of flags ;) Something like 5 or 10. Hmm.. as for improving homes, what about you make a trapdoor in the workshop and then place it somewhere inside your house, then it would say 0% or something and you would have to open it and start digging until it went to like, 50% then you would have to bring rocks, planks and nails to the trapdoor and you would have made the basement?
