Donald Shimoda part 2.

That was not a discussion, it's a request to unban Donald.

He was banned and was set a period of time, that time is over.

Unban him.

Don't come with the excuse only admins can't, that is not our problem.

Its not my problem either. If i could I would, but I can't so I sharn't. Maybe we should be admins instead of super-mods, then we'd be on time as I did inform the admin a few days before but PM hasn't been read yet.

Unban Donald damnit!

Kaimetsu 04-04-2004 01:54 PM

I still have no idea why the new mods inserted the pointless discussion-of-bans section into my ruleset. There is no reason for such discussions to be illegal.

I think that was added by Tseng, but I have no objections to it being there. We don't really need a full discussion on every ban (As that would be what would happen). Besides its some what a private issue and im sure most users can see the ban reasons, so little grounds for discussion. Or it may have been a wish of unixman, not Tsengs additon, cant remeber :X

There is no reason for discussion of bans to be illegal, And all it has done has given something for moonie to close, and she loves doing it so

Spark ask galen to unban him please?

Then it is illegal because it is unnecessary? Are you sure you don't want to rethink that a little?

Evidently the banned member doesn't desire it to be private. And if the mods have something to hide then they're not doing their jobs properly.

And yet people still find issues to discuss. For example, the fairness of bans is often questionable, and clarification of the rules could realistically lead to greater general understanding. Again you seem to be reasoning that it's okay to outlaw these discussions because you consider them unnecessary - that the perceived absence of a downside justifies an action. If there is an actual reason behind this rule then state it. If there isn't then repeal it.

In my opinion, this is a case of moderators acting on knee-jerk reactions rather than taking time to think about the pros and cons.

How can you be sure?

R0bin 04-04-2004 02:56 PM

but kai.. You just banned people forever, and took no notice of people whining about it. At least the current mods unban people once in a while.

I discussed the bans. I just didn't agree that they should be ended. The current mods are foolishly unbanning everybody, regardless of what they did in the past (Brad would be a good example).

R0bin 04-04-2004 03:03 PM

Truth be told they didnt unban me either  Stefan did :)

It's not an excuse, it's not our problem, and it's not your problem either; it's a fact. There's absolutely nothing we can do, so don't complain about it.

WanDaMan 04-04-2004 03:52 PM

I believe some bans should be worth mentioning, but I don't approve of having a giving out a ban reading when it has some illegal stuff in there.

Darlene159 04-04-2004 03:54 PM

grr, I suppose it was made a rule to keep alot of flaming off the forums. Regardless, it is a rule, and I will enforce it. I didnt discuss when Donald was going to be unbanned because it isnt allowed, but today is his unban date as Spark showed you. There is such a thing as a forum pm, emails, and other ways to contact someone about a banning, but no....some of you have to break the rules, put it in public forum, and let a flame war erupt about how we dont do our jobs......no
