I tried a new style of shade in pixel arting today, I have made a plant. Please rate :)

Looks nice... but add an outline to the plant part :O

I tried putting an outline round the flower head part, but it looked out of place and such, and now I look at it closely, I think the Vase outline looks out of place too

Monkeyboy_McGee 03-27-2004 03:23 PM

Heh, looks quite nice.

Well, thats not really a new shading technique, its used by quite a few pixel artists. You should try some dithering on the pot. Outlines can either make or break things, black ones tend to usually be ugly, try using a multicolor outline if your going to use one at all, I would say the pot would look good with an outline, but the flowers are fine without it. If it looks jagged after that use some Anti Aliasing. Limiting your colors and keeping a better constant light source would be nice as well, after all pixeling is the art of using as little colors as possible while creating the illusion of using more.

Over all its a pretty nice peice.
Good work!:asleep:

Yohi Kirble ;)
I like it, submit it to Era, I think it'd blend in perfect there ;)

Well, what I meant was, it was a new thing for me. I know that alot of other pixel artists use it, its just I wanted to try something that looked better than pillow shading everything. But anyway, thanks

P.S: I will keep the black outline on the pot :)
