Some sort of community chat?
 

I know people have made "Graal AIMs" before but could we have some big buddy list or something of the sort to see all who is playing graal? You would have to be a classic+ member to use it and its just to chat to people...

It would also be good for people who are on restricted computers (Such as I am now @ a hotel waiting for my GF to get dressed) so that if they need to talk to somebody it is real easy for them to do so.....

I can see where sorting would be nice. This has been discussed before, list sorting thats up to the player would be cool. A default sorter would be nice as well to some extent, but I dont think it should be done. It does not take all that much effort to find someone these days anyway unless you are on Era or UN.

Im making a chatroom in flash hopefully that would be used to take care of this situation.

I really like flash, so i hope it will work.

i coded a chatter for 1.39, it would log an account to the server and work like an instant messenger O,o

Wont do that now because we ::cough:: arent supposed to make third party software for the server

Or even talk about things that were done in the past :P

In my opinion, Graal is just a big graphical based chatroom already, or until someone comes up with the bright idea to make a server that's challenging and interesting.

I had somewhat of an idea that could extend out a server-wide chat by writing and reading from history files on the clients computer... although it was more of a personal idea and I don't think it would work right now, with where the development possibilities of where Graal is at. It would involve docking a frame to the bottom of Graal's screen in fullscreen mode.... Although the main argument for my thread was to make the playerlist in v3 easier to play with.

I remember when NovaNET made Graal messenger and let some people test it. I wish that would have been completely finished it would be the answer to their need of a chat program for graal. :(

Anyway SOMEBODY THATS GOOD AT PROGRAMMING DO THIS THAT WOULD BE REALLY AWESOME

I have to say a couple of things:

1) People will flood it

2) A lot of flame wars will break out

3) Doesn't it kind of kill the idea of having a forum?

You are correct. There are other ways to do chatting outside of Graal. Of which I cannot speak of or I might be banned :x

1) You could make it so the player gets disconnected if they say so many things in a certain time frame.

2) You can have mods that mute players who flame for a set time.

3) No, it doesn't, a forum records messages... a chat scrolls through them.

Anyways, I think that chats should be only server wide... maybe with an option so that you can send a private message to a player on another server, but nothing more than that.

Like an RC Chat?
 

I like the idea of sending a message from one server to the other. But what if there was a thing for high staff on a server, like umm... useing RC there was a chating thing like the Globals use, dose this sound kinda dumb? I dunno just a thought.:o
