Backdoor.blarul
 

I scanned my graal folder and found backdoor.blarul in Graal.exe and Graal3.exe with the newest virus definitions and Norton 2004.

Perhaps this is in the graal code itself? Many other people have been finding this, i suggest everybody scans their drives. Post your results if you find anything!

LMAO, I just had this same problem and was extremely confused. I was thinking "HMM, SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING TO POST!" and boom... here you are. :P

I'm just going to set Norton to ignore the files...

Edit: I just completed a full system scan... no other files were found.

Graal is a sub 7 virus?
 

Well I know how strange this may sound but my norton anti virus just got rid of graal.exe and graalv3.exe because it said it was a sub 7 virus. I tried downloading it again (with the graal setup exe file from the graalonline web site) thinking well maybe my graal exe file was corrupted or some thing but as soon as it was downloaded norton got rid of it. Here is the message I get.

Where exactly in your attachment does it say SubSeven?

It says Backdoor.Blarul.

Which is the same thing as a sub 7 right? I guess not.

Any backdoor isn't considered "Sub7"... that's a unique "virus"... though not much of a virus, is it? :P

Yes this has happened to me as well.

If you'll note in the second thread (really the first... it was there before this one... someone isn't very observant ;)), I said I just made Norton ignore the file. You can do the same.

Options > Auto-Protect > Exclusions
Click "New...", then type in GraalDir\Graal.exe. If you use 3.0... just do the same thing, but with Graal3.exe, obviously. You also need to do it to the "Manual Scan" section if you run full system scans, or scans of the Graal folder regularly. (Oh, and I'm using Norton 2004)

As for the firewall... if you're using Norton's firewall, it can be configured to work with Graal, if you know what to do. It's a bit lengthy to explain, and I already have in a thread before... so I'm not going to now.

Considering the fact that Norton just happened to detect this after updating virus definitions... it's more than likely just the new definition detecting something in the Graal code that thinks it's a backdoor. I don't know exactly how Norton scans files, but I imagine it's possible for a bit of code to resemble a "virus", but not be one.

Then again, Stefan could be using a backdoor on us all!! HAHAHAHA *cough*

Symantec should just release a set of definitions that detects the file type marker for a BMP or something as a virus. Then all of you would be like "OMIGOSH MI BMP FYLZ R AL INFEKTED WTS!!!!!!!"

Well all I know is he has a hell of alot of explaining to do, thats for sure.

If you read anything that I said, you'd realize that he has nothing to explain. It's a coincidence. Well, no, I don't know that for certain, but saying he actually put something in there is illogical. What would he stand to gain?

I did read what you said and yeah I guess it could of been a coincidence. I would hope he can fix it.

Yeah I dont know what he could gain either maybe find out if someones using hacks but thats about it.

Maybe Stefan doesn't know he has the backdoor. Hmm...

That could be seeing as how the old versions of graal dont have it and most of the help guides for that virus are in germen and french and he is germen and lives in paris.

Or mabey, your entire system is infected with the backdoor and it is only spreading to certian types of applications. Go on the Norton site and look for some removal tools, and then download graal again and run norton.

Several people have scanned it and are getting the same results. It's obvious that the problem is with the setup file, not the computers running it.

Merged Houidini's and donalds threads

It was a good thought to merge them but I really wish you had left it in the main forum as this is a very serious "tech support" problem and we really want stefan to see this asap.

Actually my v2.1 (i think) backup had it in there, i made a copy before i downloaded 3.0 in case i wanted to go back (didn't know it was a separate exe). Norton found it in there too when i did a full system scan.

It deleted my Graal.exe :(

This should be moved to the main forum so people know it isn't a virus, it's just a bad definitions list.
