Xone Style

Should Xone have a new style? or stay the way that it was, with new things.

NeoJenova 02-10-2004 10:39 PM

Since I don't have much background with XOne, not being one of its more active players I think I can just go with the mass opinion and say.

Old Style

Seems to be the majority vote in previous threads.

MarkB 02-10-2004 10:42 PM

Yes, that is what most people want. With that though, we will need some new things thouhg.

ETD 02-10-2004 10:48 PM

'Old Style' is generally a term used to discribe very simple levels that mostly use predifined objects
=x
(I am assuming you are talking about levels here)

I wonder if 'old style' is even enough to pass the PWA inspection
:o

"Old Style" can mean a number of things.
1. The way the server was run.
2. Servers economy style.
3. Level quality.
4. Server staff, before and after.
5. Main idea for the server.
Etc....

The style of something is judged by opinion for the most part. I am almost sure they can keep the "Old Style" but update it enough to the point of passing PWA Inspection.

If I remember correctly, Xone's levels were not detailed too badly before. I think the old style is good.

MarkB 02-10-2004 11:36 PM

Old Style pertains to not totally redoing a server.

Old Style Servers:
UN, Babylon

New Server Styles:
GK and servers using in depth systems and new tilesets.

Crono 02-10-2004 11:42 PM

I say old style. What the rest of graal needs to understand is that Xone had a strong community. Some of the oldbies are going to come back to graal just for xone. Vik did. Nish did. Many more will probably come.

By old style, I mean old system, old npcs, old levels. The levels can be modified but as long as I can recognize it as being "xone" then I dont care. I love xone :O!

New style isn't totally changing it.

DarkShadows_Legend 02-11-2004 03:51 AM

The old levels was pretty nice back then, but now when I look at them they look like crap. I remember all there was to do was fish and pk. It was near impossible to make money and I don't know ho in the world people got stronger swords and more life because there didn't seem to be too many quests.
The overworld that was there when Lycia and Hell Raven ran it was pretty nice. I prefer that one.:)

Well in a way it is but eh forget it. He doesnt even know how I am changing sanstrata so he had to right to say what he did.

Thak2 02-11-2004 05:36 AM

Please - don't use any of those new grass-grass tiles in Xone. Man, I hate those tiles.

Yeah, old style. :)

Geno 02-11-2004 07:39 AM

argh what happined to archriac!?
i don't want to see a repeate of that
a great looking server be built and put to waste
common man if you take the tiles from archiac, throw in some role playing tribes of some sort maybe some celtics some pirates and some demons from the rainforest we could have ourselves a damn good ole' time

NA NA NA NA NEW STYLEEEE!

WanDaMan 02-11-2004 07:50 AM

Nishoku and Viktor wanted these results, not mark. ken.

protagonist 02-11-2004 10:45 PM

I'd play it if it stayed old style, if I wanted a new server I'd play something new.

The community does matter, but what attracted said community matters even more, as a similar community can take root where there are holes in the old one.

Crono 02-12-2004 12:47 AM

What if the same level layouts, basic feel, and community type things are still around but the levels are changed a bit just to look better. Same goes for the npcs. We will have the same npcs, but we will also have new things. Hows that sound?

It sounds not too bad, but I really hope it doesn't turn into another Babylon/UN level-style clone.

WanDaMan 02-12-2004 02:50 PM

Not at all, the levels are the same as before, medivia style (medivia = xone2).

On some levels, but I noticed whilst doing some levels some of the levels from xone are detailed like medivia :)!

XOne will never be complete without Long Swenis... But unfortunatly it was disbanded because some losers were using inappropriate names suggesting things, and made it too vulgar etc... :( Oh well... Perhaps one day I can convince the G.A. to let me have it...
