RC Tray Icon Bug

The Tray Icon for the Remote-Control does not restore itself after Explorer has crashed and restarted, I have written a tool to assist me in showing the RC again, but it's highly annoying.

Don't let Explorer crash. :p

Use a shell replacement, LiteStep or Aston.

Easier said than done, buddy.

Erm, restarting Explorer fixes problems with Win98 alot of the time, so it cannot be avoided.

Unavoidable for the time being. Certain development efforts that I am working on cause Explorer to crash sometimes.

Not interested in this, applications that correctly instantiate a tray icon restore themselves properly after an Explorer restart. Sadly the Remote-Control is not one of them.

R0bin 02-06-2004 06:17 PM

um.. inst 2k more stable than xp?? DID THE LAWS OF PHYSICS GO TOPSYTURVEY!?!

Thought 02-06-2004 10:17 PM

XP is just as stable as 2000, but I don't see how it could be more stable.

Again, that is not a reliable resolution though--Explorer would still crash due to the development I am working on.

R0bin 02-07-2004 02:28 AM

hmm <3 for aston.

ZeLpH_MyStiK 02-07-2004 02:33 AM

You can sorta fix it by opening a new rc and logging on to the same server. It'll disconnect the one you had on before =\

XP IS more stable than 2k :P

Sometimes my computer freezes for a little bit when it's "very busy". However on XP it never froze. For some reason it also seems like Windows 2000 Pro boots with more processes than Windows XP pro did.

They have the same stability, dunno where you're getting this from.

Both have never crashed for me. (Well XP crashed due to video driver errors but that wasn't a problem with XP)

zell12 02-07-2004 07:01 PM

Wow, get more RAM please.
