Idea/Dungeons

i think there should be some real dungeons, ones with puzzles, bosses and maby mini bosses, and also 1 or 2 that are doable without 3 months of killing shell bomys, and rewards at the end, harder the dungeon, better the reward, i mean comeon puzzles are fun and having something doable by newbies thats "fun" would be nice, couse no fun = less players, most people wont wait 5 weeks to be able to have fun, and there is barly anything fun to do in GK anyway so i think fun to do dungeons ranging from very easy doable with a small amount of training, and ones where you gotta be tough as rock yet as clever as a cat to get trough, would be good, comeon it is mainly just level design, not too much stuff to add, but you would need:

Push and Pull blocks (simple)
Doors needing keys (simple)
Boss doors needing a specile key (simple)
More mons (not too hard)
Boss Mons (kinda hard)

it would be great to go trough the dungeons, it would make graal kingdoms a much much more fun place, and it would be easy as pie to add, also gives a place to put more mons, feel free to comment weather good or bad, long as you don't break the rules ;)

I say it's a great idea, I'm unsure if that will be added to GK or the graal 3D tho.

I guess folks will find out.

Complications would come up as far as puzzles ago. They begin to lose their effect after going through the dungeon so many times.

Or are these only intended as a one time deal?

Medabee5111 02-05-2004 07:56 AM

there could be a random dungeon creator, or just a random puzzle creator, and maby even a boss chosen out of a list of bosses for that level dungeon, it could be worked out so that the fun keeps comeing for a long time :D

oh and there would have to be a way to keep people from coming into the dungeon while your doing it and be able to just walk trough couse you killed all the enemys and finished all the puzzles WITHOUT stopping it from being a one person only thing (so you can bring some friends along), maby make the door open and once someone goes trough a timer gets set, once the timer stops the door closes and stays closed untill the person(s) inside finish the room and goes on OR thay turn back and go back into the previuos room, also there should be a room before the boss where you can heal and stuff in preperation for the final battle, all of this is most likly makeable, and would add something fun for people of all levels :D

It works on classic, but then again, classic ic one pk-hell once you're through with all the quests.

I don't think a full featured dungeon in that style would work on kingdoms. But maybe we could have some kind of riddle incorporated into the treasure maps, in form of a new monster called the riddler, which petrifies you in a spell, then asks you a question/posts you a problem to solve in some way, giving mental exp or something depending on the riddle.

Medabee5111 02-05-2004 10:33 AM

why wouldn't it work?

Termina_Owner 02-05-2004 10:54 AM

I say it won't work...

There are power-houses on GK. I got lots of things to add, but I won't waste my time.

Medabee5111 02-05-2004 11:45 AM

by "power-houses" do you mean strong people or the Hounted Houses? these would be much more complicated then the HHs couse there will be lots of puzzles like push block puzzles and mazes and stuff like that, more then a simple "kill a mon get the key slash the door" thing, couse thats plain stupid, and boring, the only tough battle is at the end but thats boring too, it's just constant mindless sloughter in the HHs, what i'm talking about is a more puzzle based dungeon like in Legend of Zelda and stuff like that, not mindless slashing around killing everything like you just got scammed out of 1000 diamonds...

The point is that there's no sequence like there is on classic - i.e. 3 different swords and shields, and you have to follow the line one by one. Kingdoms is more wide-spread, and it's point is roleplaying, which classic-style quests can't improve. I'm not saying that what is avaliable on GK does, but at least is has the potential. You can enter the HH without any rp-ish reason at all, but you can also come up with just as many if you want to. You'd do classic-style quests "to get a stronger item". In my opinion, that's pretty much it. "Indefinite" quests, like the HH or treasure maps, allow a greater extend of roleplaying, at least they don't limit anything.
Besides, they're there and working - why not improve on them? Incorporate riddles there, in some fashion, I'm sure there can be found ways...
Besides, I just spent the last 5 hours on train, so please forgive me if my brain's still on a wrong track...

Its point is meant to be roleplaying, anyway. I don't think it is anymore :(

there would be no item requirements, only stat and real life intellegence (for puzzle solving) required, and there woldn't be a story, it's kinda a much much better HH, or a gountlet type thing, one thing after another, ethier way it could still be used for roleplaying if theres random creators for things, i think it would be great, no matter what you say.

axman36 02-06-2004 03:13 AM

a dungeon will be good as long as it has no stats(health, magic, strenth) boost ups, unless there temporary, because then will have n o o b s (when I put n o o b s without the spaces it comes up like this: ****s, you try it) following lv 20 players, and they will be really powerful before they are lv 6. Also, every day, put different kinds of dungeons, as in every day ytheres a new dungeon and an old dungeon dissapears, and make the items random so it can be like you go through a dungeon and you get a saphire, or 2 diamonds, or 100 stones(the dungeons should have names so if you beat it I want 100 stones for a house, it can be called the stone dungeon) but, make it hard so they can just get more in less than 10 minutes, its should also be like if your like half health off, you have to wait until your in full health example: 15/30 wont let you in 30/30 can come in

Satrek2000 02-06-2004 06:47 AM

Then why not make a level 7 map, or additional, riddle-asking monsters (or riddles as such) for the other maps? We already have a rather nice generic-dungeon-system, and I think it should be used for that purpose.

Medabee5111 02-06-2004 06:57 AM

well before we argue anything else, please anwer my first quetion as to WHY it wouldn't work?

Splke 02-06-2004 08:38 AM

Sounds OK, but unlikely it will be added.
