Cancellation..

I noticed cancellation in the trade in a few spots, wondering how it got there. I used cancellation and it worked..Im guessing its back online now???
If it is does it still remove enchantments or does it have a different effect..this was annoying in the past

Splke 02-04-2004 06:46 AM

Cancellation only wipes a + off of something under +5...

Satrek2000 02-04-2004 10:33 AM

Stefan massed that it would be put in effect along with counterwall a while back, in a server reset.
How exactly does it work, though, do you have to mark the item or cast it on it? I've tried, but then again, I tried it on something +6... is it me or is the cleaning pool out of order?

Admins 02-04-2004 03:30 PM

Cancellation should work work again, the cleaning pool has been disabled, it's just decoraition now. Also the counterspell is working (removing spell effects casted by other people)

x_x
Isn't it EVER going to work again? :\

Satrek2000 02-04-2004 04:34 PM

But now does cancellation work on items above +5? It did not when I tried it on something +6...

Maybe we could have some kind of disease which requires a bath in the pool to heal :D

So how does this counterspell thingy work?
Is it that : if you have say an armour that has been cancelled and it's EAs wiped you can cast counterspell on it to restore its EAs?

I have no idea how exactly to operate the spell, but I doubt whiped EAs can be restored. If acid would really kill them, maybe it does, but... I have no idea.

TESTRETIS 02-04-2004 11:26 PM

So if you use cancellation you have to "Drop" the armour for it to be removed and not touch it?

lordbosh 02-05-2004 09:09 AM

I have a dwarven warhammer of might of govannon+7 that is prepared and such, to someone else. I traded my Darkflame sword for it in a deal. And now I cannot even use that hammer because I am supposed to wait for staff to come on to clean it for me. I never see staff on anymore. I was wondering if there is a way I can clean it myself with cancellation, rather than wait for staff or something. I have had the hammer for several days now I would like to use it :(

Ew!

Are you saying cancellation can be cast on other people? That might explain protection from cancellation.

Yes. You don't know frustration until you've had a blessing on a prepped weapon cancelled out.

UGH!

Is it permanent?

It was permanent, but I'm not sure if they changed it or not..
Stefan disabled it for a while then re-enabled it, so it might not be permanent anymore.

Kaiser2 02-06-2004 04:56 AM

That's a stupid and horrible idea. x.x
My god, that'll unbalance the server even more!
To a ****, an EA is a VERY big deal, he'd have to work a long time to ever afford it. Then, *poof* one cast later, and hours of toil are gone!
This is an outrage!
To me, buying more EAs would really be more of a nuisance than anything else, but to new players, it's the cost of an arm and a leg!

Brad 02-06-2004 05:47 AM

im the reason cancellation was removed originally

i spammed it all over the place and half the servers armor got reset to 0

this was back when max was like +3 or 4

Satrek2000 02-06-2004 06:53 AM

Confusion all over... would it be posible to get some kind of official statement on how it works now? *places milk and cookies in front of the chimney for Stefan* :D

Yes, if it were a curse that would be okay.

If so that's mad.

protagonist 02-06-2004 12:50 PM

Protection from cancellation or cancel cancellation would have to be sure to work.

Kaiser2 02-06-2004 02:29 PM

Or, if you put it in the sense of a "curse", then "remove curse" should be able to do the trick.

Depends what your idea of frustration is. To some people, frustration is being constantly harrassed and PKed and stalked until you've died so many times that you lose all your money and some/all items just because you wanted to spend a little time in Bmode. :P

sounds about right for something that brad would do.

That's actually a good idea. But it would have to be made so it wouldn't stack, and the spell renamed (perhaps Debilitation?), as it wouldn't "cancel" anymore.

Hence the word "cancellation".

it would, but at the same time the pkers would have their annoying p-mode nubs casting it on you
