Fear: Some notes

I have recently stumbled onto about 2 extra hours a day you see i work full time, 40 - 45 hours a week, and I still attend highschool 7 am - 3:22 pm so its been hard to work on fear and keep things going at the same time, however recently our semester changed and I dropped 2 classes so now i have an extra 2 hours a day that im going to dedicate to Fear, (I know hardly anyone cares but anyways) lolz
Im getting the project organized again and i may schedule a tour of the overworld b4 too long.
So far I have:

Created the bases of an indepth storyline and organized it along with its events.
Finished and integrated the portions of tileset.
Finished sketched graphix that never got 100%.
Created and drawn out plans for quests.
Spruced up the overworld 1024 levels.
Organized and designated music for certain areas.
Organized documentations and files of all sorts including server information, quests, storyline, levels, strings and server strings.
Resolved all of Faheria's old files and some are still in the process of changing over.
Backed up all files and older versions of files.
Purchased and put up the current emtpy server for a year its been about 6 months now O_o.

On my to do list are the following.

- One by one document and create system npcs that are needed to run the server
- Organize the rest of the graphix and make sure they are no transparency issues or gani conflicts
- Finish up all gani work for characters which will be easier now that i have found an older graal shop the new one is not to my liking.
- Implement the remaining scripts which will be the most time consuming.
- Find a little more inspiration god knows i need it sometimes lolz

I'm working hard to get things back on the roll I have so much to do and such little time thus everyones problem.
I havent paid much attention to the forums but I know about 88% of the servers are empty and UC and I dont want to stay in that list.
Im hoping to build fear so that it will practicaly run itself and not need tech assistance as far as having to test 50 things a day. So thats will be realy hard and take pre-testing and documentation to make sure that there are no npc complications and prevent future script complications. Im working on graphix conversion tonight hopefully I will get it done TONIGHT :)

I would also like to give a very special thanks to Michael Vafeas who made the fear soundtrack possible . He is a great artist and his work is greatly admired.

Also thanks to everyone who has made helped with faheria up till its point of conversion
Shadrock, mmmmkay, Krakken, Silver, Falados (The pickle man), Justin, f00q, and everyone else who helped in the process even Godspeed lolz. Forgive me if i forgot to mention someone i wasnt planning on a thank you section it just happened :)

Sounds nice would've been a better choice of words ;)

But, I remember what was shown months ago, and these ideas sound great. Should be a good pw when/if it is finished. :)

And Spanky too!
:)

I can post some new screens l8r ill probably post a small image the main map after I finish converting the Main Labyrinth.

But in the mean time here is a screen of the Seasons Forest I just implemented. Its a winding forest maze that I even have a hard time getting through it because the trees all change color each visit O_O :)

I decided to try out the new dungeon generator app. It proved to be very complicated, but could be a major time saver if you had the time to learn how it works to a T.
I finaly got my tileset configured to use it for the labyrinth although I will probably do it manualy I used the labyrinth as a test since well thats what the dungeon generator is good at :)

Here is a pic of my first testing
Any tips or anyone that knows alot about how to use the new generator let me know.
Im hoping to know how to use it for the Gaurdian Forest quest im working on :)

Well ne ways im starting to rant, heres the pic any tips?

*EDIT*
Is there any way to use a random number in the x= and y= for placement of npcs and images ontop of the massive areas? THanks :)

haunter 01-28-2004 04:20 PM

Yes and very much Deek! He made some very nice graphix with Justin :) and I think even Gonmon put a little in.
I had a helper come in and help me find image / tile errors throughout the overworld considering its hard when your changing over a tileset lolz so the over world is pretty much debugged. New to do list is

- Separate clothes to shirt / pants instead of the current combined version.
- Finish up player ganis
- Add the new sprites set i just put together from previous small parts into the ganis
- Test the gani's online
- Finish the base level npc ( for use with my BASS system ;) {baddy array spawning system})
-Change the SFX npc from level npcs to -SFX weapon

TB3 01-30-2004 10:17 PM

Small Status and Progress Update from last few days
- Fixed pics1.png added alot of tiles that were once seperated
- Seperated many objects from fearpics1 into seperate images to be used as in game objects (bush, rocks, ect..)
-Massivley improved overworld (Im guessing 30 new levels and over 400 changed moved or edited levels
-Changed all images over to fear_ format that took a long time considering how many images were in each level (1024 levels) O_O
-Body images finished revamping
-Base sprites.png finished and very nice
-All (character, blood, mouthmovement, ect..) sprites defined and put into a base idle gani.
-Gani progress begining as base body gani is now ready for the conversion to other ganis (walk , swim, jump,ect..)
-Small server problems fixed
-New onlinestart local (nothing grand it just looks better than a loading script flags screen that never ends).
- Day and night system re-implemented and improved to work with overworld and change back on inside levels and no light effect levels. Time is also included in that but not final version.

Next on agenda is mainly the ganis

- Finish scripting worlddb npc
- Finish up gani work (thats first)
- Finish SFX realism system
- Outline player stat system
- Implement playermovement system and new ganis.

* EDIT*
I however never seperated pants / shirt anyone think i should ? or should i just alow specific outfits to make them more rare? or split them to alow a more unique look?

TB3 02-01-2004 09:24 AM

My gosh its late i had to go to the emergency room and pick up my step father O_O head problems or something. And it took forever to get home and I ran a double today so i got a good 14 hours of work in O_O tired. BUT nevertheless I got a small update in I made some lobby levels and changed the onlinestartlocal to allow access to them they arent much but they have some pretty effects and they are something to see and do until more of the server is released. And it sure beats the heck out of a nothing screen. Let me know if you like it :) there may be some file errors I do appologize if there are I found an odd thing about graal / order of operations which i posted on another post and I may have left some remanents of that test on the server heheh. Well ne ways im going to bed night all.
(BTW im gonna post most updates here or i may just make another thread Fear Updates or something )

Funky Trees.

WanDaMan 02-04-2004 03:03 PM

If you have tree's like that don't make the server like Era or it won't match, this is kind of advice if you get my drift...

Oh i made the transparent npc along time ago when transparency first came out im only using it for that section because otherwize that maze would be imposible :). But the server is in no way like era, its more medieval
