Changes

There are three main concerns I've seriously taken into consideration regarding the kingdom of the Crescent Pirates which are causing debate and problems among the kingdom. As the majority has spoken, and I have decided to take different points of views on the matter as well as agree upon things by "feeling" for myself, I have decided on some changes.

Isolation act:
The isolation act will be lifted. Though I was only told it may be a violation of kingdoms, I am lifting the act. However, the intention will remain and so will some expectations. Basically, while IC you should only talk IC to people who are IC. That also means no "teasing" of people who talk OOC, even if they're on an RP name and tag. I've seen this before. The good RPers kind of just play along with the non-RPers. Someone says something like "u wanna trade 3 iwd's 4 ur rot plz". Then, let's say the person is a pirate, he'll say "What ye be saying? Ye must be speaking the demon's language? What be these 'rot pills'?". This kind of "teasing" (that's what I would call it...) should only be done to fellow kingdom members to help spread RPing if the members are being OOC. This also means if someone says something OOC, you should not respond IC. Example would be someone says "((Are you level 20 in wisdom yet?))".....the response should be OOC, and NOT IC. Yes, this means RP with other kingdoms as you please. But don't forget you're still a mean pirate, and anyone (on a RP name/tag) who responds to you saying "Draw yer sword or I'll have yer head on a platter!" by saying "lol" instead of "((lol))" is foe, not friend >=)
We'll continue to remain nuteral IC. Our IC behavior is somewhat isolation. Generally speaking, IC we don't want to have anything to do with any kingdom. OOC, I'd like a war :] That is, one that's well-plotted/planned....and MOY one that can be described as "Kingdom with Tec wins" or "Kingdom who has the biggest total sum of exp/'money' will win".

-OOC- in nicknames:
People have stated this shouldn't be needed. I've always agreed. If you don't want to RP at certain times, don't use the tag. Recently, there's been confusion about being on tag. I believe I cleared this up on the post the confusion was caused by. People do NOT ALWAYS have to be on tag. However, as for people who ridiculously say "You don't have to RP 24/7.", this IS true, but not in the sense they would allow/mean it. If you're on tag, you're being IC. So any OOC text that's said in-game on tag is to be parenthesis as always. This means toguilds and PM's are normally OOC. There are appropriate times to have important/real/big RPing in toguilds, but it usually doens't apply to normal things like "toguild: *walks in and looks around at all the pirates* Who be this boy that be stealing the ships?!". That would be an example of what NOT to do.

My "rudeness":
Not sure how to respond to this. I'll just state facts when enforcing the rules and just remove people who don't comply with them. I have no reason to express my frusteration for people wasting people's time by joining and not complying with the rules. As for people who come to me for help, I usually am willing to help if I can. I just don't take care for helping people who make vague or ridiculous statements such as "I don't understand this." when referring to a document which contains NO main point but MANY points. For example, it's like asking the same for this forum thread. Learn to ask for what you want and you'll be more likely to get it :) Otherwise, I'll asusme you're asking for too much and tell you to do more on your behalf.

Feel free to ask for clarifications, point out confusing things, mistakes, etc. No comments please- this thread is only for helping, not for unneeded commentary.
(I'll edit as necessary)

Role play is part of it yes, since it is a "role playing game". But unlike Valikorlia that has an agreement in order to enter that world graal kingdoms does not. Just because someone does not care to RP should not keep them from being able to join a kingdom. With CP not only do they have to RP, they have to RP the way the Gov sees fit, or suffer demotion or removal. The new experience partying system allows members of the same kingdom to gain experience within the bounds set before ( within 8 levels I believe and within 100 tilesets from eachother) but they must have thier kingdom tag on. Since when is killing smokys bomys or T-rexs IC of a pirate. But according to the Gov's rules they are not allowed to have tag on unless they are RPing. Part of the reason to "belong" to a kingdom is the sense of belonging, but you can only participate in any discussion in toguilds if your on tag. But according to the Gov's rules you cannot be on tag unless you are RPing. People do not want to feel like they have to walk around on egg shells. They want to enjoy the game. So what if they feel like laughing and say "lol" that is just a sign that they are enjoying the conversation and this is not a server where we go around with (( )) over our heads. The fact that we are in the game and we really are not 2 inches tall shows we are IC. I do not go around in real life making quotation marks over my head when im talking why should anyone here?
As far as your rudeness , maybe you dont understand you cant talk down to people and expect them to look up to you.:\

Kingdoms are like guilds. Follow their rules.
It's like in real life, you must follow your country's rules, but you can also follow, for example, religious rules like
'Do not envy your fellow men' or somehting alike.

No ofcourse you're not walking in real life with (( and )) or anything else above your head. Coincidently, Graal isn't real life. Or it is your life.... Besides, roleplaying is like theater. You can't play a part in a theater with a theme like Pirates of the Carribean, then suddenly shoot out:
'WTf you scammed meh, i'll get my AK47 and shoot u ter peices.'

The rules don't state you must roleplay all the time on-tag, but be IC.

Heh. IC = In Character. When you are In Character, you are roleplaying. IC = RP. Therefore, if you must be IC while on tag all the time, then you must RP while on tag all the time. Of course, you'd be allowed to use (( and )).

Oh, and I'm using the quote tags now, easier to read? :D

Let's say that we have every Kingdom lined up. Each kingdom has it's own individual culture.

If you like Japanese culture, you join the Kurenai Joukai and work to become a samurai and support your kingdom.

If you like Pirates, you join the Crescent Pirates and work to become a Captain or First Mate, whichever you feel suits you, and terrorize the waters.

Elven fans join Forest, well, they will when they can join forest. :D

Dustari, well I don't know much about Dustari, but whatever they feel would suit them there, they got it there. Same with the Zormites. I guess fish people aren't in these days, though. :D

Anyway, there are themes. Themes are attractive to young people. Not everyone that joins a kingdom is going to be a stellar roleplayer. Expecting them to be so is a unfair assessment. Kingdom leaders and their high appointed officials should be willing to help their members learn to roleplay. If we say that only the cream of the crop may join our group, then what is the point in having ranks that players may move through as their ability to roleplay improves and their knowledge of the game increases.

I always sense a disdain for the new player, and there's often a lot of requirements put on them. They need to hurry up and figure out how to play the game, they need to quickly learn all the rules, they must be perfect roleplayers and have no room for improvement and not need any teaching or training by their leaders. Shrug, seems to me that leaders might be slacking on responsibilities that are associated with leaders.

Ziro, these rules are looking better. You know my main problem was about the isolation (which made no sense ic'ly) and the attitude that your members and other players in the game received when they spoke to you.

I also agree with Nalle, the importance of the game is to have fun. Not everything in the game supports a strict roleplaying game, an example of that being the experience (OOC) shared amongst kingdom members when they are within a range of their levels and also within the same area. RP is fun, but it is but it plays only a part of the overal enjoyment for a player who experiences Graal Kingdoms.

Edit: writing post while working is bad, fixed reference to pirate kingdom in pirate statement.

The previous rules were ... *looks around for mod*... n/m...

The only reason you're doing this now is because people don't want you to lead anymore and you're afraid that it'll be taken away from you. Pathetic...

Monkeyboy_McGee 01-14-2004 06:34 PM

I really can't be bothered to participate in these kinds of thread anymore, plus i've been flaming on Ziro too much in too short a space of time, so i'll just quote Valder.

But you're forgetting 1 critical detail. Communism is real life. Graal, is a game... Well, at least to most people.

Does that change anything to this fact?

Btw you're not supposed to think ********* is real life.

Gozelda get a life! Of course Graal isnt "real life". But it mirrors it, your char has to eat like you do in real life you have to work to make a living like in real life , or most of us anyways. You have to exercise to get stronger in real life. So if we make references to "real life" it doesnt mean we are confusing the two. And trying to make it seem like that is what happening, to try to get people's focus off whats really going on isnt working. :P

Although that's completely senseless because you can't bust in a pub and kill everyone with your hammer/axe.

Communism is like, the perfect system in theory. In practise, it is crappy due to human nature, etc.

National socialism and fascism, which is what Ziro comes under, is a bad system in theory. It's also a bad system in practise, as we've seen IRL with hitler, and In-game with Ziro.

It's meant to be a perfect system on which to live, but it's not flawless.

Psst. Get a clue guys. You're all off topic. One to three word posts with a quote doesn't help much either. PMs are good for what you're doing.

So, back on topic! Change of rules, good idea and I think some people are pleased. What fate lies in store for the Crescent Pirates? Where will the leadership lie in the future? Stay tuned true believers!
