Balor...

I was wondering if Balor could have a amulet of some kind that adds you fire resistance since all balor has is Flaming aura, It would be alot better,
And Bile does not have a Relic either, Why not make a belt for Bile or something?

Belt? srew that, give him a sweet-looking scythe and i'd be over to bile in a flash (as long as the scythe was given at low level, since all his spells are high  )

D1ce2 01-06-2004 06:46 PM

a weapon?

--Chris-- 01-06-2004 06:57 PM

They don't have relics because they make up for it with other advantages.

Govannon resist fire, Balor already resist magic+30 which is REALLY damn good. What more do you want? Oh, almost forgot laming aura - yet you still want an advantageous relic? :)

skyler87 01-06-2004 07:23 PM

Flaming Aura alone is way too much. In my opinion, they should take away the resist magic +30.

MasterNuke 01-06-2004 09:38 PM

Why does everyone bash on Balor? Maybe it's just because people run around too fast for you to be able to stop them from using Flaming aura?

Well Balor should remain how it is... if not... Flaming Aura damage adjusted to wisdom level more... like say base 3 damage + 2 per wisdom level...

Benefits of Balor that no one ever looks at?
Flaming Aura - Makes Balor look too good
Vitriol... trust me... no one wants to even face this.
Magic Resistance - With everyone wearing Rings of War or Strife... this is needed...

Now the flaws...
The stats... yuck...
The repelled protection and restoration
The fact that Flaming Aura will never help against something fire immune.
The Fear attacktype that some people have +100 resistance to.

No change. (cept maybe the damage)

zell12 01-06-2004 10:13 PM

Flaming aura is for one too big. Second, it is not meant to destroy everything. Three, it is supposed to REFLECT spells. I forget if it is bullets or what, but that is what an aura does. Different aura types reflect different types of magical damage, some even prevent the user from being physically harmed, acting as a forcefield-like aura.

I'm still suprised nobody has bothered to get vitriol yet. It's such a powerful spell on CF, and I've heard people get 150 grace before, plus the spell is only level 8 (I think). I don't know why people don't get it, you would level wisdom so fast in a map with that spell, it just annihilates all (I'd follow Balor for it if 1.I wasn't a mage and 2.I could get 150 grace)

How do you know that Vitriol will be the same on Graal as it is on CF..?

Becaus they can't be stopped, unless you're using aura too, or they're just really slow for some reason

UNPTWOPWINNER 01-07-2004 12:24 AM

Actually people using flaming aura are easy to beat...
Just go to the top of a room, cast icestorm down, run through your icestorm(person has to follow).
Go to the bottom of room, cast icestorm up, repeat. Person either follows and gets hurt or stands and gets hurt...their choice.

--Chris-- 01-07-2004 12:38 AM

My fire resist is so high laming aura is useless <3

D1ce2 01-07-2004 12:52 AM

I am going to get that spell >:)

zell12 01-07-2004 01:03 AM

On CF, flaming aura usually can kill some things if you let them sit in the aura for a few seconds, like on graal. On CF, things in a vitiol splash die MUCH faster. Example of this, I leveled a balor character on CF once, got myself flaming aura at level 1 (had 50 grace which isnt hard if you have other characters or choose a good race), and leveled until I was level 10 on zombies, being weak to fire sped things up, but taking down giants would be suicide. Once I could get vitriol, everything died. FAST. (Including myself if I misjudged the size of the area effect or fired against a monster point blank...) Even with 78 acid resistance you still die fairly quickly, even at low levels.

That's why I'm assuming it'll be a great spell on GK, since it completely rocked on CF.

D1ce2 01-07-2004 02:32 PM

Im going to try and get that spell,Donate wisdom and power potions here!

gravator 01-07-2004 04:46 PM

It'll be a great spell. Then people will start complaining because the acid will ruin their equiment, then people will complain that the damage is too good (for a high level spell it's just fine, but people will complain anyway), then your spell will be useless and all of balor's abilities will have been lowered enough that it won't be worth following him anymore... but hey, the first few days after you get it will be great! :P

Maybe some cheap leather bracers could be added for that...

skyler87 01-07-2004 07:14 PM

I really doubt that acid would even work on GK in the first place.

Cross-Fire(CF) uses the same database of information as Graal does, from a site called sourceforge.

And again, an aura is not meant to do what it does now. Read my previous(first) post.

Why does it? o_o
Like, what's the history and relationship behind GK and CF? o_O

GoZelda 01-07-2004 09:03 PM

A bit like

'On a beatiful sunny day, Stefan was inside, not playing soccer with his friend because he sucks at sport, and he doesn't wants to embarras himself. He searches 'xxx cross relationships' on Google, finds Cross Fire, sees that it's a game with a freeware open source code, steals the mudlib/sourcecode, implements it in Graal and makes unixmad happy, starts a new 1337 Pw and gets rich.'

Monkeyboy_McGee 01-07-2004 09:28 PM

As not funny as it seems, that is not why he did that. Some of the things at sourceforge, if not all, is freeware. Meaning, he did not steal it.

Cross-fire did the same thing, and used the information from sourceforge. And I don't blame him for doing that, imagine having to make up all them names etc...

They decided to base GK on the - public - mudlib of CF, i.e. the gods, alchemy recipes, weapons, the whole system originates there, with some changes.

GoZelda 01-07-2004 10:11 PM

That's why Graal's not cool anymore :( old Graal atleast was original although it was a rip of Zelda III

Monkeyboy_McGee 01-07-2004 11:51 PM

So, does this crossfire thing use the graal client or what? If not, i don't understand how graal can use this crossfire shazzut if it's not for graal (most likely because me !=leeto coder thingy)

No. Its the basic game ideas are the same. But the games being alike? No way. The game play is different and the graphics? Lets just say my calculator has better graphics.

Monkeyboy_McGee 01-08-2004 03:02 AM

o_O
so, do both games use the same type of scripting or something?
eg. if (playerenters) {pwnhimwithleetoitamz;}

Sorry to drag this out but i'm intregued ;)
