Flaming Aura a.k.a Laming Aura

Even though I do have Flaming Aura I have to say it is quite unfair. People who run REALLY fast can't be touched when they have "Laming Aura" and they can pk everyone andit just stinks. I went in the WATER to hide fomr the FIRE of "Laming Aura" and it goes in water and It pjed me there:\ Now tell me that Flaming Aura was well planned out....I think it should be deleted or changed a bit....maybe not last as long and not go on water.

Flaming Aura is crap in my opinion, it can't even take hp away from me but then again not many people regen+5, attune fire and resist fire+around 80

skyler87 10-27-2003 06:19 AM

I have complained about this before, but to no avail. I believe 5 or 6 of these topics have been made before. I guess for someone to finaly remove it, someone with aura would need to chase an admin around and PK him 9 or 10 times before they woke up and realized that flaming aura is a mistake.

Only 10? It's happened far more than that to me.

MasterNuke 10-27-2003 03:01 PM

I really don't think Flaming Aura will be nerfed... even though it's a very lame, very powerful prayer... the horrible penalties of worshipping Balor make up for it.

DenoriZakarum 10-27-2003 07:45 PM

I agree with Ed, the aura makes up for the penelties, and its alrady hard enough to kill with, bc with aura you focus on speed and not physical ability therefor taking your fighting ability away. Balor also gives hp regen-1

Zurkiba 10-27-2003 09:59 PM

Make the person using it go like .00001 speed during and 2 mins after the spell...

Then we'll see who uses it ;)

zell12 10-27-2003 11:22 PM

An aura protects you from magic attacks, not kill everything... X_x

GoZelda 10-28-2003 12:07 AM

An Aura shouldn't really do anything at all.
But yeah, it sucks. A barb can own a mage with that damn spell :/
Really, mages are nothing v.s. a Balor worshipper :(

skyler87 10-28-2003 01:02 AM

Haha, yes, I promise you that with flaming aura, I could OWN anyone on the server. anyone. resistance to fire doesn't even nullify the damage of flaming aura, resist magic helps a bit, but not much.

zell12 10-28-2003 01:02 AM

Stefan said he fixed it so you couldn't use it more than once at a time (multiplying the damage each time you cast it) but that isn't enough, it needs to be nurfed:
  • The aura does small damage but decreases speed
  • Deflects all magic but does no damage to players.

Actually, anyone can own a proper mage - a single hit is enough to keep him/her from casting... Anyway, as for the aura, I think it shouldn't extend further than, say, 2 or 3 tiles - it should protect the user, not damage the surroundings. Also, reducing speed might help - not really to protect but to keep it from being used offensively...
Another idea might be that there's no visible effect except a little glow, but when someone attacks the user he will be scorched by a strong flame...

Stefan must get on battle mode ;)

Being level 3 the last time I saw him, he won't stand much a chance in bmode anyway, if people wouldn't refrain from treating him like any "ordinary" **** - I doubt someone would lure him in an arena and then mass-kill him...

graaliholic 10-28-2003 07:44 PM

If you don't like flaming aura, pray to brigid and get sanctuary. It's also also an aura-type spell, and it stops every spell from touching you. Kind of like an aura of countermagic, but better :P

Or run, which has less side effects ;)

--Chris-- 10-29-2003 12:48 AM

I think alot of you are pretty damn dumb, casting large fireball or so which not only has a faster gani but I believe last longer is alot more devistating than laming aura especially in a house or battle arena or so if casted multiple times and the thing is ANYONE can do it e_e

Satrek2000 10-29-2003 03:20 AM

I don't use any fire-spells at all - but I think the point of FA is that you don't need to aim, as you can "run" the spell as you move...

--Chris-- 10-29-2003 07:43 AM

Yes but people shouldn't whine if there's spells almost as good ( even better in some ways) at their finger tips but don't use them.

Fireball spells are faster to cast, but flaming aura only has to be cast once and is just as big as a large fireball :|

For awhile, I hated Flaming Aura. Having Dual RoWs and praying to Ogma wasnt a good combo... -85 Magic Resist or so, which basically makes me lose about, 50-90 HP per second in a Flaming Aura spell.

However, now that I get lamed by people 10 - 20+ lvls higher then me, it's quite fun to run their ass' out of the room then get pounded by them and their posse of lvl 25+ people. Aww, the joys of having dual RoS' and being twice as strong as the person on b-mode. If only I could get those rings back..

:O Anyways, disable Flaming Aura in water. Thats just stupid as hell

AND BRING BACK STACKABLE AURA MWA HAHAHAA
