staff= server option

I think this should be changed to actually ONLY determine what players are allowed to use RC. As of now, it also determines whether or not a player can mass message through the "Ignore mass messages" client option.

This new deal with IP addresses needing to match client players to use warpto/update level rights has caused havok on Classic. We have our Game Coordinators who need to be able to mass message as well as have their rights. To give them the rights, we have to change their IP's to match. When this is done, they can go on RC. This isn't a good thing. :P

So... it would be nice to have the mass messaging right somewhere else and not combined with the staff= server option.

Uh, you're combining at least two tenses here. Last I knew, you didn't need to be inside your rights' IP range to be able to warp/update levels, thus you could list someone in staff= and IP lock them out of going on RC, and they'd still have their powers.

Please figure out what you're trying to say o.O

Ditto. I installed graal in my CS lab, and played 2k1. ^_^

You guys are a bit outdated then, as it was something Stefan recently did today. All of us on Classic aren't just imagining things, and neither is Lyndzey.

Please make sure you know all the facts before posting. u.U

I would say please make your complaint more clear before complaining, but I'm not a jerk like that U.u

I can cough too, see? *cough*

It wasn't worded very well, but he still understood it apparently.

...sigh, nobody ever gives positive feedback anymore, just rants/insults/other miscellaneous bs.

It's not that nobody gives positive feedback, people just post unclear stupid things.

-Ramirez- 10-22-2003 09:08 AM

I bet no matter what I say, you'd say it's "unclear".

How it became "stupid" is beyond my comprehension, as it's a very real issue for us on Classic, and possibly other servers. It seems like what YOU posted is stupid to me, but oh well.

Simply put, the problem is:
Stefan changed the GServer to require clients to have an IP that matches the wildcard IP in their rights to be able to use warpto/update level rights. That's fine, except for the fact that they also need to be in the server options (which I found out after posting) as well. Which means to have those rights, they must also have RC access. I don't know how other servers do things, but we on Classic don't give RC to all staff members.

*waits for the post that says that's unclear, since some people are just so beyond dense that it's indescribable*

yeah i was just playing graal from a different computer this weekend and i tried warping to someone and i couldn't. I thought i was fired at first :(

Perhaps mimicing the rights with scripts, and leaving their IP range locked out would do it. The only remaining problem would be updating levels, as you can only mimic that with an NPCServer.

-> Convert to NPCServer and win.

Neoreno 10-28-2003 11:37 PM

Find scripters to convert to the NPCServer and you get a free cookie.

Loriel 10-28-2003 11:38 PM

Cleaner solution:
Make "log on RC" an extra right.

When I am thus motivated, I then remember that I've lost the link to the forum about the project. At that time, nobody is contactable, thus I do something else and forget that I've forgotten. Repeat cycle.

Roar.

Last I checked I still was some kind of LAT and for some reason had level 4 RC rights. But I could not find anybody to give me things to work on.

I liked that job :)

Neoreno 10-29-2003 12:27 AM

Those rights were off the old days, when you did have level 4 rights on classic (for some reason). Oh, the reason we didn't give you any work, was beecaaaaaause we didn't have rights back on dev then.

Loriel 10-29-2003 12:38 AM

That is what I said, no? :)
