Classic's Manager

While off duty and not wearing my PWA tag (i don't really meddle in classic's affairs) I've been approached by several of the staff of Classic reporting problems with admins of certain staff branches and the overall lack of management. I know Tyhm claims the position of manager of classic, but they say he doesn't do anything.

Now if there were compitent server admins it wouldn't really be a problem because the worlds started by graal staff are usually managed by stefan. However, everybody knows stefan doesn't actually do most of the managing, but hires people he trusts as server admins or asst managers etc.

I'd like to discuss this matter as a player of classic because im pretty sure it's not under my jurisdiction as PWA, and if it is, i still don't mess with it. Post opinions of current staff effectiveness (overall or by department, not individuals) and the management's responsiveness to problems (management being above the heads of the departments like GP, FAQ, LAT etc. such as server admins).

Lance 10-21-2003 06:29 AM

Tyhm isn't the manager there.

HoudiniMan 10-21-2003 06:30 AM

Then i've been misinformed, who is?

Scott 10-21-2003 06:35 AM

I thought he was too. :\

It was soulgraal, then I think it may have been Kat? Not 100% sure on that last one.

Kat (10/20/2003 10:30:20 PM):
err, he's wrong, haha
Kat (10/20/2003 10:30:06 PM):
...well, they're wrong
Emily Tannare (10/20/2003 10:29:48 PM):
Tseng/Lance said that's not true.
Kat (10/20/2003 10:29:30 PM):
Tyhm
Emily Tannare (10/20/2003 10:29:09 PM):
Just kidding, who is manager here?
Kat (10/20/2003 10:28:34 PM):
i have?
Emily Tannare (10/20/2003 10:27:04 PM):
You have been a very naughty kat.

-Ramirez- 10-21-2003 07:13 AM

Emily, perhaps next time you can inform me when you're going to post something I said.

Anyway, Tyhm IS the manager, not myself.

Btw, Tyhm does exactly what we need him to do. In my opinion, a manager doesn't necessarily need to help develop the server or anything of that sort. The only thing I think he doesn't do is talk to his staff enough, but that's hardly a horrible thing.

Ah. Well, my information was accurate as of a few months ago. Tyhm was not the manager, at least for a while. :O

Tyhm 10-21-2003 07:26 AM

I'm the manager in the sense that Bill Gates is the manager of Microsoft. I exist, therefore I manage. I trust Kat to handle all levels issues and most incidental staff issues. I trust the GP and FAQ admins to do their jobs. If they don't, and there's proof, then I have the less than enviable job of talking to them and, when necessary, deposing them. It's a nasty enough job that I try not to get involved in anything else.

Nemesis temporarily took over as far as I know. Obviously that can't still be the case, can it? ;)

Well, it's all cleared up then. I could swear that shortly after you got your administrative job, I asked you if you still managed classic and you said no. Am I going nuts? o.O

TESTRETIS 10-21-2003 07:29 AM

nope cant be the case at all Kat =P

So basically, you're rich, and you don't do anything. :p

Thallen 10-25-2003 05:46 PM

Why does Graal The Adventure have to be so different? Why can't there be a Manager and Admin-related staff tag system? It's like every staff can make their own rules and do what they want, because they have no one overpowering them.

amy_destiny 10-25-2003 06:05 PM

Well I never saw the manager or the co manager so I assumed that nobody owned it but Stefan. I just thought it ran itself o.O... But it pretty much does anyways... Am I wrong?

Maybe because we don't want to be yet another one of the common servers.

Um...? If I knew what you were referring to, I could answer that.

Wtf? Of course each staff division is allowed to have their own set of rules. Each job is different, requiring different rules. What's so bad about that?

I believe he's referring to the commonly used system of:
Manager/Co-Managers -> Admins - > Division Admins -> Divisions

If that's the case, that system sucks, as there are too many admins, geez. What we have works just fine.

Yeah no crap, it's like:

Manager
Co-Manager
Assistant Manager
Game Master
Admin
Co-Admin
Assistant Admin

Then there are two of each. It's like they really have a hard time figuring out whose in charge. Everybody is greedy and wants total power.

Neoreno 10-26-2003 08:48 PM

Not to mention they all usually have level 4 RCs. I have seen it with my own two eyes.
