Hola
Ummm... Hello. Please email me Stephan. My server is all up and set. I know you guys did updates to the graal engine. But the Graal classic kinda contradicts the inability to run any old graal program code. My npcs are in lala land.

1) It's Stefan, not Stephan. 2) You posted about this in the Graal Main Forums. 3) You should have known that you would have to change all your scripts. |
Never did get the names right. Unixmad, Stephan, Stefan, Northa, Portha, Stephane, ???, WAH! Whomever emailed me about the player world. Also like to say hello to all, being a new member I must demonstrate my newbieness!
The scripts work fine offline. I'm not sure why they don't work online. |
I don't think Stefan reads the Hello and Goodbyes section that much.
Welcome to the forums though... |

Just put //CLIENTSIDE
on the top of all your scripts and it will work. |

o.O Anyway, that doesn't work with all scripts. :( |

that //#CLIENTSIDE thing really threw me off..
I was making a big levels set recently, full of scripts, and after, I found I had to put that at the top of all the scripts or they won't work. That is dumb. What about all the old playerworlds? Maybe they won't have to use that evil evil npc server. As well, how would one be able to test their scripts offline that require an npc server? It makes it so only people who are already high-end scripters on a server are able to test them out, but how would they become scripters in the first place if everything is npc server based now? |

A) Have access to a playerworld for testing. B) Know the language well enough that they don't need to do much testing. And you don't know the half of it. Wait until offline scripting is prematurely retired... |
I thought you just copy paste all the playerworld stuff in. That's what I've done so far. Been messing with the npc server. I'm unsure what you are supposed to do with it.
|
What the hell? //#CLIENTSIDE won't solve all your problems. It's not like every freaking script is clientside, even I know that.

Oh, my scripts were just things that weren't server stuff, just stuff such as setimgpart, etc.
Don't worry, I didn't blindly put //#CLIENTSIDE at the top of everything ;) I deleted whatever I didn't think that would fix =\ And yes, Classic is what I had in mind, since it is "Main Server." (G2K1 is "New Main" and Graal Kingdoms doesn't get a name like that) Quote:
B) In any part of learning, application/use is almost always essential. Somebody with 0% testing experience could have a mistake in their script, disabling them from getting a job to apply their knowledge and better learn from it. Just reading something is a poor way of learning without application. Offline scripting taken away? I don't understand why Stefan would go through the effort to reduce his potential amount of free labour. |

Also you aren't a scripter and have no right to say anything about this subject. |

It's really annoying when people go, "You sir...," it's stupid. >:[

I overhauled all 600+ zones. Only took 7 hours. But the clientside thing really helped. Now about 85% of the game works. Playerssays code seems to be disabled, some bosses won't teleport player to the next location after battle, and I have to get storymode working. Other than that I'd say the game is almost completely playable.

-Do you expect that all the scripters that are here now will be here forever?-
I agree. Instead of just overhauling, there is actual script code that allows you to change graal version in the engine. All the server people have to do is give the server all the versions. You just select what version you want to run off. Simple solution to a complex problem? |

Also, that's pretty rich coming from somone who stole scripts. |
-Because setlevel2 only works serverside.-
Since not much is left to fix. Would you know what line of code will work with the servers for setlevel? As for getting new talent... I've gone through 20, not 3 or 5. 20 employees. They want to work, seem good then stop working. There is only one thing that moves people, it's the $. I can't get anyone nearly as dedicated as me to help me with my server world. All I see are a bunch of egos, lame programming skills, and the lack of desire to exceed each other. Just more lame childish complaining who is the best. Alittle frustrated because I just did 7 hours straight of work. My new staff seems ok. But I had to trim past a crap load of emails just to find 3 good employees. Graal needs to adjust for the fact that real talent is so rare after 3 years I'm fed up. I don't want to see more ego boosting either. |

And good way to defend yourself, heh. I suppose I could be the immature one by dragging this out, but hey you started it. :D |
