I have a great improvement idea
MY FOOT THIS USES LESS RESOURCES! honestly? the OLD graal used 20k, and I was like "jesus!" but 50k that.. demonic? 512ram amd althon xp and a higher than usual cache explian that =\ |
Ye dancing gods, not this again....
Graal is configured to use as much memory as possible, as are a lot of games and emulators in particular. This allows them to move faster as, if they're using twice the memory, they only have to "garbage collect" the active memory half to n-root of the time (and as a constant time operation). If you open another application, then Graal, Graal will take as much memory as it can and Stop. If you open two instances of Graal (at least on my computer), one will work fine and the other will open in Low Resources Mode - Light effects disabled. If this really makes you cry, open Word, Excel and Access, then Graal. Woo. Less resources for a dynamically allocated program. Rejoicing. |
I've been saving up for just an occasion *gives tyhm the evil eye of doom* and after that, I knew all of this, but I would think they would *set* an amount that graal would need, as to not rip my ram out and throw it at the wall (as we've found in the past).

Now you're just being stupid. Executive decision, conversation over. If you don't get it yet, reread it until you do.

Ah needed to add my comments:
Graal takes some more memory because of the additional images for the GUI things, but other than that the gfx managing is almost the same. Most memory reserved for Graal is used for the textures, you normally see more memory use when you have set your gfx card to 32bit mode. When Graal has been released (v1.0) the computers had between 16 and 128 MByte RAM, Graal used 10-20 Mbyte, now the computers have 256Mbyte-1Gbyte when you buy one, and Graal takes almost the same when running in 16 bit gfx mode. |
