Project 3d
A new playerworld is going to be made.
but something is different at this playerworld, becuase it will be a 3d playerworld. We still need some help of Stefan, so Stefan if you read this, please pm me back :D At this moment we are looking for: tilers, scripters, and grahpics makers. tilers: send 2 outside and 2 inside levels (can always be more) to: [email protected] scripters: send 3 of you best scripts to: [email protected] Grahpics Makers: Send 6 of your best Graphics to: [email protected] |
How exactly are you planing on pulling this off? Graal3D is not even done for GK yet.

As i said we still need some help from stefan..

I hope you have a very detailed plan on how to perform this very unlikely project, you'll also need a lot of good help.

And why do you need tilers for a 3D world? I thought 3D used models and textures... |
Unless you have a document like NewWorld showed stefan. Sit down in back.

ahahahahahhah, you think he'd actually help people he doesn't even know with something no other world has? |
Actually if they used the polycount script like Kaimetsu used along with textureing the polygons this could be possable.

I mean, it makes perfect sense! |

It is possible to make a tilebased 3D game though, and I would give more information, but I wouldn't be allowed to by forum rules. But, as for a non online game... Which I can mention, think Mario RPG. That had the 2D Isometric style, then it had blocks on top of each other, incorporating a third axis. |
3 Dimensions
X Y Z look at your monitor, it only has 2 (the display surface) width, and height. graal it's 3D. |

I don't mean to sound cruel, but if Stefan were to devote effort towards a 3D playerworld (the first of its kind), he'd make sure it was staffed by reputable people.
|
For a second, I thought this guy was thinking like I was a few days ago, then I saw his post and began to laugh.
Anyway, back to what I was thinking a few days ago. A SCRIPTED 3d engine using showpoly, and using 8 directional sprites. In other words, online Xenogears =P. It is completely possible to do, and rather worth the effort. Well, that is, if showpoly supported tiled textures =P. Once that happens, I will be make this 3d thing into a reality, nothing fancy like the new unreal, but more like a layout like Xenogears only with better (MUCH better) textures. |

I haven't yet attempted it, but I have started doing a bit of research. It seems rather difficult, which is why I am saving this for when I know I can complete it to my satisfaction (when texture support for showpoly is out). I was actually thinking of doing a side project if I managed to get a script working nicely. |
One polygon overlaps another. How can you make sure that the 'front' polygon is fully drawn, and not the back one?

What possible alternate approach is there? The polygons at the front need to be at the front of the scene, otherwise it looks stupid. No magical formulae are going to change that. |

And I was guessing the new coding / scripting engine would allow alot more game manipulation whenever it is released. |
