Hartland Update (23rd August 2003)

1 Attachment(s)
Well I have finished the last stage 1 Script, and Hartland is finally on Stage 2 of Development.

Stage 1 included all the essential things, such as character atributes, states menus, and a few others. It took quiet a while to get to this point because of constant loss of Staff, low esteem and total chaos in organisation. But in the last week most of that changed and Hartland is back on track.

Screenshot of what Hartland looks like at the moment can be seen below. There are not that many items because those come during stages 2, 5 and 6.

Why not open those systems to the public, then?

Because system at this point is like pool without water. Pretty but useless. Once there is content to occupy the players, then there is sense in going public 0.o.

Yeah really. The worst thing he could do, is open it to the public right now. For one, people are going to play, do everything they can do, and then ask when he will add other things to do. Pretty soon it turns into everyone yelling at him, telling him to hurry so they aren't bored.

Plus you're showing your playerworld as incomplete, which means most likely, the people that would play it right now and not like it, probably wouldn't care to come back when it's finished.

It's better to release it all at once.

I know we have had our difference's, but thank's for saying that:)

Nobody is saying he should open the whole thing up, but a start level that shows his systems in action would be beneficial.

Teasers are difficult to get just right. Show too little and everyone assumes your server will suck. Show too much and everyone expects more for the release.

i don't really like it... looks kinda cartoonish to me
=X
maybe if there wasn't so much of that same brown color?

I agree. I've never liked Hartland's graphics.

Like Kaimetsu says, make a start level that shows the system, would be good, add some funny tools in it..

I like the graphics, only not the character.

One start level that shows only the bodies and stuff won't be "too little" or 'too much."

And I wouldn't expect either.

1. No there will be no previews like that.

2. If you don't like something, you are entitled to that opinion. I always belived in that. And I won't change hours upon hours of work just to please you.
