Got Math?
 

I know that there are a lot of scripters out there in the middleschool/early highschool age group. For a lot of these people, it means they have not yet taken enough, if any, math to do some of the more interesting things script can do. I was wondering if any of you would be interested in a sort of algebra/trig in a nutshell sort of thread.

As to my qualifications, I am a junior in a baccalaureate math program at the moment, I have tutored these subjects in the past, and my planned graduate program of study is Math Ed.

Jagen, Soul-Blade, Kai, and others would surely be able to attest that I have, at the very least, enough skill to help at this level.

By all means, I support this. While it may not be much help to me personally as I'm beyond those classes in my school career, I know of several people who would benefit greatly from it.

If you wanted, you might be able to use the Scripter School resources.

It's how to apply it I need to be able to figure out. So, why not. Go for it.

By the way, Kai. I heard that you will not be using IRC for the scripting school. What will you be using, if this is true?

Specially scripted tools on a Graal server. It'll mostly look like IRC, but with extra doodads like a sketchpad.

Why would it be laggy? We'd only be sending simple information - most of the time it would be purely textual. It's not like lag would do any harm anyway - we're not talking about any real-time, time-sensitive stuff here. The teacher draws a picture, the students look at it. Even if lag delays the reception by as much as five seconds, does that prevent the student from seeing the diagram? Does it stop him/her learning from it?

When I think of people chatting in a scripted chat room on Graal I just think LAG. I'm sure you guys could make it where lag is minimal, but in the back of my mind I see LAG and I can't change that. heh

What if a student has questions? Will s/he have like a "*raise hand*" button?

Effectively. They'll be able to pose questions, which will fall into a queue (only one per person at any time). The teacher can, at any time, see how many questions are in the queue and request the most recent.

guys really i wouldnt worry about it.. if kai's gonna be workin on it im sure it'll be great...

i cant wait for it to start cause ill be there... maybe i can help out with a lil bit of the stuff... im nowhere near skills of the gst but im pretty good ^_^

Oh yeah, forgot to mention.

I decided to drop out of the project for long and boring reasons. In the future, contact Angel or Jagen for Scripter School information.
