Why is the server called Graal2000? ^_^

The level pack is from 2000. Although parts of it have been modified a bit not nearly to the extent it had been. I saw over 30 people on there yesterday.

Some of the new levels don't fit in at all. :(

The name should be changed, it's hardly old graal.
I don't recall FAQs back in 2000, where's the fun of exploration? :\

The server could get double its players by restoring the old levels and revamping the whole corrupted staff.

..Actually...since Muddy became managar and made mining and such and i'm working on cow milking..the playercount has risen...
He's always going to keep the old classic stuff but a little new stuff wouldent hurt....peronally i think Muddy is a GREAT Managar.

If the manager and his staff want a totally different server than "old graal" they should create their own instead of taking the basics of another.

This contradicts the entire reason for creating this server. Jobs? Wow, I didn't even know that it has become this bad.

The future is uncertain....As of now Graal2000 is an official server put up by unixmad and "owned" by Tyhm. Tyhm is too busy to keep up with it so he had a manager named Maximus Asinus doing most of the development work and staff hirings. Maximus quit about a month ago or so and made Muddy his successor. He has been working very hard on fixing things and adding some new things to keep players interested. However, Tyhm has said that he may completely hand the project over to Muddy (which means it will no longer be an official server) and that means it will have to be paid for to stay up. We are not for sure if this is what will happen yet. In the mean time we have been working on new things and fixing old things. All's I have to say is if you don't like it, then you don't have to play it. We are gaining players daily and people like the old feel of the levels. Yes, even I don't like some of the new stuff that has been put up (especially levels made by Zeltino, the LAT admin), but I just don't hang around those areas.

Minoc, the only reason you are so bashy about this server is because you were going to try and make it but Tyhm got it before you could get it approved through PWA. If you still want to make one, then spend the 99 bucks and buy one and make it what you think will entice players. In the mean time we will continue doing what works for us.
Corrupted staff? How so?

We are letting it evolve. Mining is going to allow players to work for money if they choose and get new things. It's still in the early stages I believe unless Muddy's opened it to the public. It's just something new. It's not taking anything away from the old stuff.

edit: And if it does change ownership, we will also be changing the name to something like Classic Graal. This is because it is the framework of what Graal used to be.

If you think it looks changed now you should have seen it before they removed a bunch of stuff. Although this is the first I've heard about jobs. Personally I dont see what the point of that is since there's no need for money past a couple of quests and you can get fast cash by blowing up the tall grass. Doesnt really have any effect on the server. But then again maybe thats a good thing.

We intend to change that and make money more valuable.

are there others like me that think that 2000 isnt that good cuz theres nothing really special about it except its like the only fully classic non 2k1-ish graphics made by stefan and unimaxd:\

I'm bashing it because the server was originally supposed to be one thing, but it turned into something else.

The staff is corrupted for quite a few reasons
1) I got jailed for massing reset-supporting masses after the old manager (Maximus) bashed me over masses without being provoked.
2) Last time I checked the server, a few of the staff members had offensive profiles, and I've seen quite a few massing offensive messages.
3) I don't know if it changed by now, but harassment on the server wasn't a crime, unless a player harasses a staff member \=

I actually planned to create an old-graal based server with a few friends, but currently we can't pay for it so ^_6

We're working on making it more unique, but we have to retain the old style as well...Unfortunately our levels team is inactive for the most part and keeps wanting to make useless stupid things like Kiranos and Player's Isle.

It changed because no one was playing when it was left alone. After the built-in cheat stuff was removed, everyone but the hackers left. After the evolution began, people began slowly coming back and we now have a stable playerbase. The fact is, people get bored when nothing changes and all you people that say it shouldn't change need to realize that.

I cannot speak for Maximus or justify his actions. He's gone now and won't be back.

This is because there are no rules against it. Though we discourage such things, it is very difficult to enforce such oppressive rules and it drops playercount because people just want to have fun and not have to worry about what they say. Harrassment over masses and pms is not tolerated however.



This has not been the case for a while now. Harrassment is not tolerated.

Then save up your money and do it your way if you think you can do better.

No one was playing it at the beginning for different reasons:
There wasn't an announcement when the server changed to Graal2000, people started to notice only after a short while (since it was stuck on the bottom). Many thought it still had the built in trainer as well ;\
Also, there were no GPs, the server was full of trainer users without anyone taking care of them.


1) Forgot to add this in my previous post, Muddy is the one who jailed me for the masses, not Maximus.
2) So a GP is allowed to have something like "**** you, you are all ***s, player X is ***" in his profile?
3) The staff members that massed offensive messages probably haven't heard of the new rules then :o

Yeah muddy has lots of great idea's..i mean think about Graal Classic...it never changes they want to keep it "classic"....Two graal classic's wouldent be too good...and jobs are just plain fun...i think new stuff is good i mean why keep a bunch of old crappy levels? some old stuff is good but we need new stuff...Also i hear nothing about having to pay =/ this would be hard......i dont want Graal2000 not to be paid then go down.

I was running the show originally with Tyhm. ;D But then I quit graal (tried to quit for good but couldnt) I tried to keep it mostly how it was back then only adding a few fixes. Such as the broken mod fort and I added avalon and what not. We where getting a playerbase before anything was evolved. Once people started playing and realized the hacks where gone. It was pretty rough and I tried to keep the focus on guild wars and what not such as Ninji and IEBaddies and some others. The plan was to add a few things for events seperate from the overworld for special events from time to time. Dont think it was ever finished though. But then more stuff started getting changed like the bank (I like it better the old way) and some other things. As for how it is now I'm not to sure if I like it or not but personally I say as long as the playerbase is happy it works for me.

So if you and Muddy want only new stuff, you should create your own playerworld with different basics :\

Well Tyhm must of liked the idea if he put Muddy in charge so if you don't like it don't play it.

GPs were hired soon after the change. It was me, maximus, and madmartigan...Again I say, the lack of players was due to boredom.

Muddy probably got tired of you bashing us.

If someone found it offensive, then we would request that they change it and take further action if they did not.

Maximus picked Muddy, not Tyhm.

I was provoked to bash the server...
GPs weren't hired immediatly after the change.
I know quite a few people that aren't playing in the server due to the changes.

Well all i can say is get over it.

Thym made Graal 2000 to "return old levels pack", Staffw ere only supposed to fix the levels, and add old style quests, not "evolve". Take em off Official Status, they are making a toy out of this project and are "evolving" it!

So in short, make em unofficial.

That's their choice if they don't want to play. I'm more concerned about the 90 people who do want to play.

Tyhm has no objections to what we have done (if he does, he sure has not voiced them).

We don't want to become like G2k1 if that's what you are implying. We just want more things to buy. NOT HATS or things like that. More like more NPCWs like the permaclothes that was scripted.



Yes, and I want to keep it that way, but the stupid levels team won't cooperate.

The problem is we are short handed on development staff and we have an inexperienced manager. I guide him as best as I can but sometimes he does things that I don't agree with. I wasn't thrilled about that mining thing either and think it should be a quest rather than an economy thing. The few levels people we have are incompetent for the most part and make stupid things. They also do not know how to tile correctly in the classic style (see Kiranos, our biggest adbomination). Perhaps you guys would see better results if you would offer to help us rather than bash us. We are doing the best we can.

Ugh all this fighting makes me sick.....And i think Graal the Adventure should update its not classic Graal2000 is Classic.

People call Graal the Adventure 'Classic' because they got used to the name.
Graal2000 is becoming less "Old Graal" than Graal the Adventure :\

Graal 2000 isn't classic either any more.


superb you are contradicting your self. And you don't need good level makers for "Classic Style Levels" Just ask them to use premade objects.

Adding to what Graal used to be? That's what Classic is. Also, I agree with Androk, making money 'valuable' is against what old graal was.

The server was originally established because a large ammount of players were saying that they miss how Graal used to be. They said they had more fun playing the old version more than the new.


But I guess it doesn't matter, since they will need to start paying for it eventually. Until then, it just seems like a "free ride" on the PW train.

After bugging the GP and the manager, he was sent to jail. However, it was done just to get me to shut up. Kat still had RC access (and he used an offensive nickname on it too) and powers, he still had the powers to remove himself from jail o_o

When I noticed he's using the RC, he logged off, and then pmed me from jail saying his rights were removed, yet he pmed me from a no-pm jail so ^_^

Maybe i'm a bit late with this, but none will mine. Money isn't very useful in G2000.

Alright guys..I have an idea....How bout I completely reset the server to how it was before all the updates....Then leave it like that for about a week or so...let's see what happens.
