NPC script edit window

When on the NPCserver, editing a script,
we have the Find, Send and Close buttons -

please add a Test button so we can verify our changes when editing on the npcserver! thanks

Hear hear!

I think it's coming anyway, after the documentation so we know how to use all the commands anyway...

Add a debugger and I might even think about composing my scripts online :)

this has only been suggested around 100 times, personally I think if you're scripting on NC you should be at the level where you don't really need a test button, and don't give me the excuse 'what if i forgot a ) or something?' because those mistakes are really easy to find, but I guess a test button could be useful =|

Giltwist was just telling me the other day he wished there was a debugger for online mode because something was giving him grief and he couldnt find out what it was for quite a while. I think that would definatly be a handy thing to have as a right that you can give to some one on RC.

Of course, it wouldn't be a simple task. Would the values of the serverside variables be sent whenever they change? It could get hectic, but I guess it's limited to ten times per second.

*shrugs*

I have no idea. I know very little about how scripting works. I'll try and get Giltwist to add his two cents since he knows what exactly abouta debugger he would find useful.

Well, isnt NC only for people who know how to script well? If your a good scripter you dont need to test it.

NC is for anyone who has the money to buy a server,
becasue with your gserver, you get an npcserver.

It's not just for elite (or is that 1337?) scripters anymore!

What the hell is the point of scripting if you cant?

Finding a missing ")" isn't "really easy to find" all the time. What if you have a massive script that uses a ton of parenthesis, are you just supposed to waste time trying to find the one that is missing? It would especially be helpful to test things that are already online. So you don't go and make a stupid mistake which affects everyone in the game that is using that script at the time. (like you edit a weapon script and miss something and update it, and nobody is able to use their weapons because you left out one character in the script)
