Graal Kingdoms Template??

I heard some references before about a template of Graal Kingdoms that unixmad or stefan said might be availible for download some time.

What I was thinking was...everything being already scripted and ready to be started as a world. With ability to customize where areas a put, and the overworld.

I was thinking, if such were the case, it would be a great reason to buy playerworlds. The effects are probably already known: Graal Kingdoms may fall apart (at least at first, when everyone decides to make their own GK), and Playerworld purchasing goes up because everyone decides to make their own GK. I for one, would probably buy a playerworld if there were a GK template and if more of my friends had gold or VIP (I'd probably even upgrade the lazy jerks' accounts to VIP, if that lets them play there, just to have my friends playing on my PW).

Does anyone else think this kind of template would be a good idea? And can anyone affirm if this is what was being ment when Stefan or unixmad made a reference to a template of GK ?

There is a GK kingdoms template but like you said it wouldn't be good to let people just make a copy of the current things and so moving players away from the current Graal Kingdoms, so we must find ways to avoid that and still give the possibility to use Graal Kingoms content if wanted.

Would something like mudlib then be available? :]

Well, it would take much more time to prepare a template that's useable, I suppose, wouldn't it? Perhaps if the default template is completely contentless (rather than having an overworld structure, with the same towns and such) so that managers can easily place predefined objects on the overworld (castles, shops, places to produce items, dungeons). And have it so managers have to design their own dungeons. Maybe a level generator? All I know of is the dungeon generator (and of course the old world generator x_x)...I don't know if that dungeon generator serves the same or similar purposes. Making it simple, yet so that it's not a direct copy of Graal Kingdoms would work well. And also, when placing the tables that produce things onto the game (by a developer)...perhaps having it so the person has to decide how many of each item it will take to produce another item (example: a developer would choose to make it so it takes 20 boards to make a bread stack). I realize this would be a lot of work and take time, but a Graal Kingdoms template would be awesome.

I don't believe that the template (if it ever appears) should have the NPCs that are on Graal Kingdoms. If your server has competent scripters, they should be able to whip up their own crafting system..no need to rip GK's.

Hmm, Archaic is based very close to kingdoms as he has seen...as for bodies...bloo is making different ones, but using the kingdoms template(so he doesnt miss sprites) and we will be redoing al the ganis our self. Because we plan on having dual swords and what not.

Yay! Just what I've always wanted! A clone of Graal Kingdoms

Well, that's why it would be a GK template, to have all the things like that. :( If not, what would make it a GK template? Just the tiles and bodies? :( And if a server had competent scripters that could make their own crafting system, they could just make their own stuff starting from scratch instead of using a GK template. :(

A Graal Kingdoms template? Let me say 'wtf?'.

Ok. I may start to ramble but hear me out.

A playerworld is a vision. It is something that is in the creater's mind. No one else's mind, just the creaters. What is the point in having a template for a easily created playerworld? So you can have a quick fix of running a server? This idea is horrible. If your imagination is so void of ideas and creativity then you don't need to be a manager. This is what being a manager is, running your vision of a world. Not having something made for you so you can run it. This idea is so bad that I had to say something about it. I don't feel like signing on Graal to try out new playerworlds and see 10 copies of Graal Kingdoms. I don't pay for Graal to see copies of servers. I want to see what each manager has in his head.

and thats my 2 cents.

Noone would make you play them, or even look at the list (since it's only visible on the RC server list, which you do NOT have to use to be a Graal player...and the playerworlds start off as hidden) Besides, many of the playerworlds look the same as it is (bodies...tilesets...heads). This would simply make them look less similar.

How would it make them less similar? Its like recoloring a sprite. All that has changed is the color. In the end, its just masking GK and giving it a different name. It doesn't generate uniqueness or creativity.

You're right, it does not do that. However, recoloring an image is better than doing nothing to do it to change it.
