I quit Archaic. Server still being made

I quit Archaic. Its still being made by everyone else who was involved just not me. Mark wanted too much stuff like 2002 so I wish him good luck and I hope it beats every server out. =)

Darn that stinks man :(
You probaly would of helped it aloooooooooot too.

MarkB 06-30-2003 10:25 AM

It seems he wants more of a 2d Server...well, that is fine, Archaic goes on, I will still be purchasing it, and this wont blacken the server too much, and it still should do good. =)

I have a few SS's I plan on posting soon..of the overworld.

Also, the bodies are being worked on ;)

MarkB 06-30-2003 10:28 AM

Just wondering...what would you guys rather a server be?

If it looks really good, 3d.

Androk 06-30-2003 04:58 PM

I like 2D

Zurkiba 06-30-2003 05:35 PM

2D... 3D Graal just shows that you can click and drag. 2D levels show your skill and the work you've put into the project

Nitkizi 06-30-2003 07:09 PM

It's technically click-and-drag either way you do it. But whatever lags less and looks best..:p

Spark910 06-30-2003 07:29 PM

3D would be good as there arent any PWs with it open, but I wouldnt play it, as I dont like 3D terrain.

Hmmm Gah >_>

This makes me wonder what I should do it in....2d or 3d....hmm

ASouthernMan 06-30-2003 08:06 PM

I think this is just Spanky's cry for the server to be 2D. If you make it 2D, he'll probably be back. But is Spanky really worth it?

MarkB 06-30-2003 08:29 PM

I really wanted him aboard...but he wants 2d, let him have 2d...just not with me. I wont change my whole plan to accomodate 1 person, doesnt make sense. Oh well, there is other fish in the sea..

Spark910 06-30-2003 08:35 PM

=)
It will be popular. I mean thats just my opinion, but others will really like it.

MarkB 06-30-2003 08:50 PM

=) Thanks, It should be very nice.

Androk 06-30-2003 10:06 PM

I still don't like 3D, makes me think of Kingdoms, and scares me. Besides you need really good GFX to acomodate (Where is Kaimetsu when you need him? How do I spell that word!) the 3d Terrain.

Accomodate.

Yea, but that doesnt make sense....gah, I had this PW planned...I dont want to mess it up.

Kingdoms doesnt lag..and my comp is ****.

Nitkizi 06-30-2003 11:59 PM

It isn't the terrain itself that makes you lag, it's because of the amount of players doing things all the time that run through the npc server and the fact that you computer has to show all the graphics on screen (houses, signs, flowers, bomies, and all that other junk, and there are tons of them on kingdoms).

G_yoshi 07-01-2003 06:04 AM

It will lag if there are a lot of showimgs loaded or lots of NPCs. Considering the large amount of NPCs I use to make the forests you'd better have a fairly decent computer :) I would say the minimum specs needed are at the very least a 500mhz proc, 128+mb RAM, and 8+mb video ram. A small screen or window is best (640x480).

protagonist 07-01-2003 06:27 AM

Man, it's sad to think I couldn't play Yoshi's server up until a month ago.

Sorry. I think those requirements are rather low. Most people have computers that have at least 32mb video ram and 256mb RAM and typically a proc that is P4 or greater.

I had a very, very bad computer. :(

If you've got a bit of cash you can easily build a new one that is rather powerful for a low cost. I have unordered parts, but what I have will cost ~$550. It has a nice AMD Athlon XP, 215mb RAM, nForce chipset on the motherboard, just to name a few :)

Golbez 07-01-2003 07:31 AM

I'd say 2D it would save you alot of work :o

Hmm, you'll just have to wait and see what I do? XD

Spark910 07-01-2003 07:41 PM

2D wouldnt require all of the GFX etc, but it wouldnt need as much of a good level team, as its fairly generated. And easy to edit, so 3D Would allow your team to concentrate on the fun, the scripts and GFX and what not.

LoL, Most people don't have that stuff. I use computers all the time and I'm still using a AMD Athlon 650mhz processor, 128mb of RAM, and a TNT2 Ultra32 gfx card. :p I think Stefan's computer is even worse than mine.

Graal Kingdoms doesn't really lag much for me... I turn off light effects for one... Anyway, about Archaic... Spanky quit because it's turning into a GK clone, not because it's 3D. I also think it's looking too much like GK (the houses and all that stuff). I mean come on, be original. We already have a GK, we don't need a clone of it.

It seems like every time a new official server comes out, everyone has to copy it.

True. It works at first as the classic accnts dont have to buy gold/vip, but then everyone does it, and we end up where we are today almost (exceptions given where they are needed)

Yeah, exactly true 110%. Heh, I was going to say something, but it is best said over AIM heh.

Spark910 07-02-2003 08:19 PM

Yeah I wouldnt have fit into that group of graal users until about a few months ago, when I got this new computer <3

Do you know the video card you have?

If you have a Dell, HP, etc. computer, you probably have an integrated video card. It's probably 32 megs, if that's the case.

draco5432 07-03-2003 04:12 AM

I have a gateway...cant remember the kind though...

Compared to today's technology:

yes.

If you're not a hardcore gamer or video editor, you don't have much to worry about, though.

Heh, you do have a point :x

Those minimums of 500mhz, 128mb RAM, and 8mb VRAM were based upon my laptop which I started making the overworld on. My reason for saying what I said was that most new computers bought off the shelf have roughly those specs. I know the VIAO my parents bought is a P4 with 512mb RAM and has a RivaTNT2 (32mb). They got it around this time last year.

konidias 07-03-2003 09:32 AM

Yeah, my computer is a couple years old... It was powerful back in it's day... lol :p

"Curse this two day old technology!" - If anyone can tell me what they quote is from, you're as big a freak as I am. :p

Soul-Blade 07-03-2003 09:35 AM

Hehe I am in good shape. 1.8 ghz CPU, 60 gb HD, GeForce 4 MX440 w/ 128 MB DDR vm, 768 mb DDR mem...among other things.
