What about "Era of Lag"? :D

No.
Era is not competing in the Real Estate business. Therefore they are not competing under the same name as the other business, which is what copyright prevents. Only companies holding copyrights have the rights to copy (imagine that) a certain service or product. Unless the real estate business opens up a video game center, there is no reason for a name change. |

I believe I smell some resentment here, don't you agree? As well as perhaps a possible hint of jealousy. You can't have absolutely no reason for attacking a server like this. I think I need to add my G.A.S. image into my sig area, but this time, change it from G_Yoshi to Graalians so that anyone else that would like to may use it :)
Look, what is the deal here, hmm? Obviously its a problem you don't want to take up with the server's administration. You sound like a broken record with your 'gag' rhetoric. Its getting old...wait, it was worn out the day you started, sorry :p I've already given an explaination as to possibly why things are the way they are in the gaming realm concerning guns and violence. |
Thats funny, a couple weeks ago I saw a sign that says Era witch was a building company :o
Era is a comman name, you dont see Bravo getting sued by the channel Bravo do you? :P Oh and same with Atlantis, its a movie and a game :O |

XD anyways... I don't think Era should have to change it's name... otherwise (as stated before) Bravo, and Atlantis, and other servers would have to do the same... There are plenty of companies which have the same name... just they are not competing, and so it really does not matter... unless there is a competing product, which has the same name, then i don't see a reason why it would have to be changed |
I wonder why exactly one should care about some random American company copyrighting a out-of-dictionary word that has obviously been used as commercial thing before.

There are a lot of things I would much rather say about many upcoming and a few of the currently online servers, but rather than be a pesimist I at the very least try to offer suggestions for improvements unless I feel that a particular server or playerworld in development is not worth offering advice to. Same goes for particular players that make themselves a nusiance and are belligerent. I really wish the rule about negative posting of players could be broadened a bit to include playerworlds, perhaps. Yes, criticism is a good thing, but too much can turn it into the opposite. I'm just tired of seeing threads about people wanting certain servers removed. If its that big of a problem then it needs to be taken up with the server's administration and perhaps Graal's administration as well. Your ignorant rant on guns is trivial and isn't worth the time of the administration of either the server or Graal. All this says to me is that you are perhaps envious of Era and its success in attracting players. Despite the fact that there is nothing that garauntees the freedom to do as you will on playerworld development, but I do think its rather unfair if you disallow people to explore a particular theme that has not been used before in Graal. All you do is restrict people and thus reduce Graal's potential for gaining mainstream attention. Yes, there are limits to how creative things can be, obviously, so that Graal Online can stay out of legal troubles. Those are things that need to be monitored rather than being watch dogs on trivial matters. Its a waste of everyone's time. But continue, if you wish, to pursue your insane goal. I'll continue to tell you otherwise ;) |

Oh, I know!
"PK world" I mean, that's all everybody does - shoot first, ask questions later. |

I would say this rule includes PW's, since alot of these threads are discussing poor management, and a manager is a graal staff member...these threads need to stop, and the mods need to make them stop. I have seen many of them, and they remain open until the flaming goes into overdrive, then the thread is simply closed and people can still read all the negative bull-crap that is still in it.
12. Posting negatively about Graal or Graal staff is not allowed. (posts discussing poor management, bad decisions, Graal sucks, etc) If you need to discuss this, do it privately or somewhere else. |
I think alot of server's need a name change...like Unholy Nation (I see nothing unholy about it), Era, Babylon, Atlantis, Bravo Online (we know you're online), Frolic, and Doomsday. They need original names, that aren't..err..words. Gaia and Delteria are the only servers with nice names, in my opinion.
|
The playerworld doesn't need a name change. Thats like stupid. It is like owning a company, like MSN, can one of your divisions is named "Era" or something of the sort, would they get sued? No... Mabey a bad example, but you get the point.

2)The only cause for a name change is violation of copyright or Graal code of conduct. |

1) Babylon: http://www.babylon.com 2) Atlantis: there is a game series called Atlantis so o_o 3) Frolic: http://www.frolic.com/ I doubt if any of the companies would care though. |

Okay...obviously you guys DON'T UNDERSTAND the difference between a copyright and a trademark.
You copyright works you've created, such as paintings, writings, drawings, graphics you make, websites you make, even layouts. You trademark company names and/or slogans. Now, from your posts, i can see that you people still don't understand it completely (although protagonist seems to have some idea, but he called it copyright, so I'll explain it again). When you trademark a name, you trademark that name in relation to the field your company deals in. For example, there is a company called "Apple Computers." They own the trademark to the name "Apple" in relation to computers. Nobody else can have "Apple" in relation to computers. However, someone else can trademark "Apple" in relation to something else, such as flowers (and more than likely, someone already has). So, Era the real estate organization may have the trademarked name in their trade, but they do not have the trademarked name to the graal playerworld. (Someone please close this thread now? ;)) |

uhm
uhm actualy
the only thing thatd be illigal, is if another graal playerworld came out with the same name, and they got their name copywritten otherwise its not a problem ie: graal can make a server called "Ragnarok Online" if they wanted to, and RO cant do anything about it, because theirs is a name for an online game, and graals is a name for an online game server.... just like a pie making company can be named "Ferret Inc." and a pie crust company can be named "Ferret Inc." but another company cant open a company that makes pies and call it "Ferret Inc." besides, graal hasnt copywritten ANYTHING, nor trademarked anything. ive checked ^_^ so untill they do, all of graal is free for the taking if you want to. |

So unless it's just my imagination when I see soft drinks with the name Surge on the labels... you can pretty much figure what the courts have decided on the matter. |

YOU CAN'T COPYRIGHT A NAME. READ -> THINK -> Post. You're omitting at least one of those first two steps. :*( |

So rather than go trolling on these forums trying to flame people for a simple mistake any one could make. Why don't you get off your lazy ass and do some real work on the server that you're supposed to be managing and improving upon. remove head from ass=>think=> Post |
He is just angry because you keep making the same mistake.
